We had the good fortune of connecting with Mei Tang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mei, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks is something that I’ve always taken a chance in… I always saw myself as being the outlier from my peers, my family, my parents, etc. Not because I wanted to, but truly, most of the things I wanted to try, commit to, experience, were too “much” for most people. Now I’m not saying all risks has been the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.. However, it’s taught me so much. Taught me so much about people, relationships, business, and most importantly, about myself. Without taking these risks I’ve ever taken, I would have never been able to be where I was. If I listened to every rejection, doubt, negative self-talk, etc, there would not have been these businesses manifested through my thoughts. Thus, taking calculated risks, is necessary. Learning to know what type of risks, that comes with experience, and great mentorship (if you’re lucky to have someone around you to show you the REAL ropes that is).

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others in my business / industry? Well, it depends where you know me from! I’ve literally been the walking example of knowing how it feels to try different industries (in my early career), to incorporating everything I enjoy doing and love as a part of work/play aside from working (such as dance or music journalism), leading up to doing interviews and music reviews while graduating in Psychology with my passion for helping others and learning about the human mind, then realizing how a lot of the information resonates, but also didn’t resonate with me. So after going through so much of my independence and learning on my own, I was able to incorporate all that I’ve learned and loved into multiple businesses. With Vegan and Holistic (@veganandholistic on Instagram www.sdveganandholistic.com), I was led by the Universe to put together something high-vibrational for the community through doing what I loved and enjoyed. Vegan and Holistic is a brand where people come to network, gather with great music, vegan food, holistic vendors, talented healers, gifted holistic health practitioners, and more. Early on, I was able to do everything on my own from securing the venue, to all of the social media work… With the flow through action, the community came together and it was so beautiful to see it all unfold. Aside from Vegan and Holistic, I was inspired to create Gemivision (www.gemivision.com Instagram @gemivision) to serve teaching clients how to empower themselves to change areas in their life they’re not “happy with”. Whether if it’s their business, relationship with others, or self, etc. I incorporate what I’ve learned from science with energy and empower clients to inspire themselves in making positive changes within themselves to shift their outer world. It was from all of my own personal challenges, lessons, trials, that I am now able to serve hundreds of people through creating a space for communities, or a personal container to evolve and transform their lives. These are my reasons and I believe we’re all hear for greater reasons than we could ever first imagine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First of all, LA has so many fun and amazing things to do, where would we start? My best friend flies in, we are definitely going to go straight to the beach. I prefer going to Newport Beach or Manhattan Beach (depends what vibes we’re going for), Newport if I’m trying to relax a bit more with better water and ocean views… Manhattan Beach if I want to grab a nice local meal not having to drive too far from after the beach. We would go to Cafe Gratitude, because I do enjoy some great Vegan food there… And I would make sure we get some good rest for the next day. My friend will definitely be hiking with me throughout the week. Some places to go to are by Kenneth Hahn Park in LA, or something more low-key like Rancho Palos Verdes Sagebrush Walk Trail (amazing views of the ocean), there’s also great trails in Pasadena including Eaton Canyon Trail, Echo Mountain, etc. I do like going to Culver City Stairs, etc but it’s a bit crowded/over rated at times so definitely check out the ones I mentioned if you haven’t! (You’ll thank me) As for more food through the week, we definitely are going to the following: Sage Plant Based Bistro in Echo Park, The Plant Lab Vegan in East Hollywood, Crystals Soul Cafe for some amazing vegan soul food, Nic’s on Beverly for something with a little more vibe, Naughty Vegan for some gooood asian fusion, The Grain Cafe, Au Lac, and we can go on and on… As a dancer and a lover of music, it depends what night but we would go, but a nice lounge in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, or Jazz club like Vibrato Grill Jazz is definitely worth checking out. There’s nothing like showing your tourist friend simple places around LA like the LA Observatory or the Getty Museum! For massages I enjoy going to Sparagon for a good Thai Massage or a good Korean Bath House Spa. I love some great pampering and I’m sure my best friend does too!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out a fellow mentor of mine, Dawn Walker. Although I’ve had many other very important people walk into my life, Dawn was one of the first people to help me shift my consciousness from some of the darkest parts of my life, to stepping into who I am and my gifts effortlessly. Beyond thar, Dawn Walker is one of the most gifted and intuitive healers that has been a part of uplifting so many others. For those interested in building your own intuition, make sure you reach out to her and tell her Mei sent you. 🙂
