We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meredith, what’s your definition for success?
My definition of success continues to evolve. As I grow as an actor, I continue to set new goals / milestones for myself. I think of success as reaching my next personal goal or milestone. In the beginning of my career, I would celebrate every step as a success, whether it was getting new headshots, getting an agent, or booking my first feature film. I still like to celebrate wins. I’ve moved the goalpost for myself now, and continue to be grateful for every step along the way, whether it’s booking a role on an amazing television show, or working on a project where my performance meets the parameters to be submitted for Emmy® Consideration. In the last few years, I booked roles on Ozark, Insecure, Seal Team, Fantasy Island, A Rose for Her Grave: The Randy Roth Story, and Lessons in Chemistry; I had so much fun participating in FYC campaigns for Fantasy Island and A Rose for Her Grave. I am incredibly grateful for each and every opportunity that I’ve had thus far, and continue set new goals for myself every day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I get excited about collaborating with talented people, analyzing characters, digging into scripts, and successfully bringing writers’ and directors’ visions to life. On Ozark, I had so much fun getting to improv during the rehearsals with Jason Bateman, who was directing the episode. On Fantasy Island, I had a blast working with the director, Diana Valentine, getting my performance to be the right balance of ethereal guide, while also matching the vibe of Maureen McCormick (since I was playing the younger version of the same character). On A Rose for Her Grave: The Randy Roth Story, my character was based on a real person, so I was able to do some research, and work with director, Maritte Lee Go, on how to best represent the pain that the character was put through by her ex-husband.

I also enjoy making my own scripted series and films. I’ve written, produced, and acted in a few projects that are now on Prime Video (Pushing Buttons, The Struggle is Real, and Park Acrobats). I co-wrote and produced The Struggle is Real with my two good friends Jessica Heath and Katelyn Farrugia. Park Acrobats gave me the opportunity to learn how to edit, using Premiere Pro.

I’m beyond grateful for all of the amazing people in my life who have helped me get to where I am today. With the guidance of agents, managers, friends, and acting coaches, it’s made any goal seem achievable, and any challenge seem surmountable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love hiking at Victory Trail and going to the beaches in Malibu. My favorite restaurants are Sage Vegan Bistro and Bodhi Kosher Vegan Thai. If I were showing someone around LA for their first visit, I’d also take them to Griffith Observatory, Santa Monica Pier, Rodeo Drive, and to any TV / Film screenings that may be happening for awards season.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful to all the people who have helped me throughout my career. I got my start in the Southeast, then moved to Los Angeles after encouragement from my acting coach Tammy Arnold. I am so thankful for my amazing Los Angeles team (Jeff Wolfman at FRP Talent Agency and Liz Fuller at Citizen Skull Management). Thank you to my acting coach, Marjorie Ballentine, for challenging me to be better each and every day. Thank you to Devin McGee, for being my partner through it all. Thank you to my parents for being so supportive. I’m just beyond grateful for everyone who has helped me along my journey to achieve my dreams.
