We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meredith, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Working for yourself and making the bold decision to take charge of your path is a big one! Always having an entrepreneurial spirit, it was so natural for me to break off on my own, cast my own vision in business, and create a workspace most desirable for me and my clients. I always tell anyone who is going to go off on their own, “When you bet on yourself, you can’t lose.”. I truly reject the notion of failing. I have always been adaptable and malleable to changing and moving direction; when something isn’t working and I attribute that flexibility to my success.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began my career as a hair stylist 22 years ago. It has never a linear career path. I have working in Washington DC, Los Angeles, owned a salon in Beverly Hills, and now split my time working in Mississippi and Los Angeles. It has involved hard work, tenacity, and dedication to my craft, client base, and myself. I feel extremely proud of my business and how it has evolved over the years. I think what makes me special, in a very saturated industry, is my ability to connect with people and really make them feel beautiful both inside and out. Every client I see is a relationship and I work with each individual to create and forge a pathway to achieve hair goals. I see my clients as collaborative partners. We work together inside and outside of the salon to take care of their hair.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depends on which part of the country I am in! If we are in Mississippi we will eat crawfish, go to an Ole Miss football game, and soak in a gorgeous day boating on the lake. If we are in Los Angeles, we will drive up the coast to Santa Barbara and have lunch outside by the beach at the Rosewood hotel, shop around Century City, and end the day with sweet treats from Beard Papa’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I thank all of my client base across the country, who have supported  me during the years. The loyalty, love, and support has gotten me through challenging times and has inspired me to my own personal greatness. They are the reason I stay motivated and passionate about hair. I have so much gratitude for everyone who has believed in me.
