Meet Michael Girgis | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Girgis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think, in order to put yourself out there, you have to take risks. I know for my career I wouldn’t be where I’m at now without the risks that I’ve taken. For example, when I started making music, I was afraid of rejection and the what ifs that came with releasing music. What if people don’t like me, what if this is just a waste of time, etc. But I chose to take a risk and dive into the unknown and I’m so grateful that I did.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer/songwriter/producer. I started making music in 2019 in my dorm room. I initially started writing music to explore my mind. Writing music allowed me to go deep into my mind and find conversations, situations, and emotions I thought I had forgotten or didn’t even realize I had experienced. Over quarantine, I chose to push myself musically. I wrote, recorded, and produced my first album “Isolated” in my childhood bedroom and put it out in the summer of 2020. This project was the start of my artist journey. Since then I’ve put out a couple more singles and an EP most recently called “always, summer”. This EP is a love letter from summer to you and I wanted every song to remind you of a summer of love. My favorite song on the EP is “s’mores”. I think the production is some of my favorite I’ve ever done and the story is so lighthearted and fun. I’m currently working on my second independent album all about growing up and living in LA.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take a friend to the Santa Monica pier first. Show them everything the pier has to offer. Then I would take them to Hollywood Blvd and show them all of the cool touristy spots. In n out is definitely a must visit even if they have it where they live cause it just hits different in LA. And lastly I’d take them to Malibu cause that’s probably my favorite place on earth.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my parents. Without their support I wouldn’t be able to be making the music I’m making today and I wouldn’t have the drive and work ethic I have without their example of what it looks like to work hard for what you want. They’ve come to every show, listened to every song before it comes out, and are nothing but encouraging.
