We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Marom and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Creativeness was always something I had inside me since I could remember. Whether it be me trying to paint or taking videos and photos of my friends skateboarding or nature, building legos, etc, I was always trying to keep my mind busy with things I could be creative in. As I grew up even in school my favorite subjects were always the creative ones. Culinary Arts, Painting, Photography, anything that allowed me to use my artistic side. I still did well in all other subjects, but nothing interested me like the arts. As high school began to end, I looked at other professions I would be interested in doing with my life and deep down, although some were interesting, I never truly wanted to pursue anything like a 9-5 job. Sitting at a desk all day, working for someone who truly doesn’t care about you, just to make money to then spend it on things that make you happy…. gross, that was not for me. I wanted to do what I loved. Something that would take me across the world, that would introduce me to new people, that would give me the freedom to work for myself. By the time high school ended I knew I wanted to pursue being a photographer and videographer, two of my all time favorite things to do.

Looking back 7 years later I am happy that I made that decision. Although I still have a lot of work to do and a lot more to accomplish, I am proud of how far I’ve come, how much success I’ve had, and the experiences this amazing art has given me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I would describe my business as a place where your vision becomes reality. I know I know that sounds cliche, but it is true. the past 13 years I have learned everything that has to do with photography and videography. From a young age, I vividly remember watching all sorts of shows and films with my family. As I grew up, I found that having an artistic outlet was the perfect way to express my thoughts, creativity, and imagination. I quickly fell in love with filmmaking, photography, media marketing and haven’t looked back since, committing myself to a career as a professional creative and learning everything there was in the profession. The time and information I have accumulated over the years has made my company more successful than I ever thought was possible. But what do we do? Specifically, my company specializes in photo/video content creation for commercial, lifestyle, brand/product, music videos, and more. Not only do we do commercial work, but also short films and music videos. Working with anything from new businesses to world class brands/celebrities for years has given me the skills and experience needed to confidently produce amazing content that will level up your company, brand, or image. My business has helped thousands of people bring their ideas to life. Although that being said, it was not easy. There were so many times where I wanted to give up and just get a job where I could feel safe and just know money was going to come, even if I didn’t enjoy doing it. But every time I felt guilty giving up on something I love so much. That thought kept making me try harder and not give up. My advice is, if you just put in the work everyday just a little more than the last, you will be successful. Nothing comes fast, so don’t give up too easily.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Personally, I enjoy nature. If they were visiting the area I would definitely bring them on a hike out in Malibu, or go surfing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without the friends, strangers, clients, and collaborations over the past 13 years, I would never be where I am at today. Barely having schooling on my craft, these people trusted me and gave me the opportunity to constantly work and practice my craft. Not only that, they time and time again showed me that people do appreciate the work you put in and its not just for nothing. I also want to thank my family, as they are the reason that I even was able to pursue something like this in the first place. The opportunities and help I have received from them has been an immensely big blessing that hopefully I could somehow repay one day.

And at the end of the day, I want to thank myself for not giving up on this thing I love and making it into something I can do every single day for “work”. For believing in yourself even when almost everyone around you told you that you should maybe pursue something “safer” or “less risky”.
