We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Mcbay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
as a lifetime martial artist i have learned and hopefjully acquired the characteristics of:
perserverance, dedication, continuous effort even in the face of insurmounatble odds,
hard, hard, hard work, empathy, kindness, integrity, self discovery and the endless search
for God in all of its forms and manifestions

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i founded, finance, manage and play bass in the amazing LA based alternative rock band Circle The Earth
-the project is on its way up in Los Angeles and has released several singles and is playing larger shows
as opening act of capacity 1500 to 14,000 people
-getting the band noticed in los Angeles is incredibly competitive as there are literally 8000 other bands trying
to accomplish the very same thing
-the patience, determination, endurance and dedication that it takes to accomplish this, especially here in Los Angeles is incredible and this is by far the most difficult thing that i have ever tried to accomplish in my life
-this is harder than Stanford Pre-med, UCLA Med School or even a lifetmie of serious martial arts training
-it takes everything and more….
-i also became addicted to crack and alcohol along the way, but by the Grace of God i am now 15 years sober and i have the band of my dreams in Circle The Earth
=we are like a family and i literally love these people, it is more than a mere business venture, i am dedicated to seeing their artistic dreams come true in their lives as well as in my own

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
my favorite spots in Los Angeles are:
-Circle The Earth rehearsals at Amp Studios in North Hollywood
-Circle The Earth live performances at The Whiskey on Sunset Strip
-karate trainings at Rokah Dojo in West LA and Santa Monica dojo in Santa Monica
-“Prana” the beautiful headquarters building of The Movement of Spiritual inner Awareness organization on Adams Blvd

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
i would like to mention the amazing musicians of Circle The Earth music project:
Aviva Scott -lead vocalist
Kazuki Tokaji-lead guitarist
Sandy Chao Wang-keyboardist
Sandro Feiliciano0 drums
