Meet Mickella Rumbolt | Clothing Brand Owner or Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mickella Rumbolt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mickella, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
While everything begins with a thought, process and execution, I would of never guessed I would become a full time entrepreneur at 25. I always knew I was chosen, chosen for mighty things, and that I had a purpose.

Being born premature was a miracle itself. With undeveloped lungs and a dock (hole) in heart that was my first obstacle to overcome. Through the grace of God he kept me to where I am today, healthy, alive and well. I always asked myself what can I do to leave an impact? What can I do to make a change in society?

With the love for fashion, God and the belief that I was chosen, I began Chosen Designs and Chosen Cares. Chosen Designs is a Christ centred clothing brand, bringing positivity and Gods words through fashion. Where Chosen Cares is our community outreach organization, where 10% of sales are donated towards resources in marginalized communities. I believe everyone is chosen, chosen for anything they put their mind to, and to keep pushing and trusting that God will make a way. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” – Matthew 22:14

With Chosen Designs in full effect we strive to make a difference not only within fashion, but through encouragement and uplifting messages. We are living in a time where people are going through a lot and if we can make one persons day, that’s the ultimate goal. Here’s a reminder: you are loved, you are blessed and you are Chosen.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What do you want the world to know about you your brand and story?

I want people to know that they are chosen and have a powerful purpose on earth. To believe in themselves and trust that God will guide, comfort and strengthen them in anything they are going through. Also to never give up and keep pushing for greatness.

I want people to know that they are loved, beautiful, handsome, blessed and chosen.

Although my business is still growing, I am very proud of the journey so far. I came a long way with Chosen Designs, ups/downs, and I am loving the direction I’m headed in. People are starting to see the value of the brand and I aim to continue to inspire others. Inspire others not only through their walk with God, but for those even starting their own businesses. I am always eager to help and answer any questions people may have.

I am also proud of the recent launch of my website, it took a lot of sleepless nights but it was for sure worth it.

What sets me apart from other brands is just the passion I have. It’s more than just the sales, if I can leave a positive impact through social media, content creation, word of mouth and partnerships that’s the ultimate goal.

“For many are called, but few are chosen” Matthew 22:14 is the scripture we go by. We want people to be proud to wear Chosen, not only to be uplifted and motivated within themselves, but to also change the lives of others in an impactful and positive way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The love for food is real, but I’m truly a home body. Wings and macaroni that’s all I need, I love soul food. I would for sure take them to Yard Vybz Restaurant, Honey Soul Food and Kxngs Table Restaurant. All black owned small businesses with amazing food. Check them out on Instagram and support.

Other than food I’m pretty simple, activity wise downtown Toronto, long walks, movies, shopping, fashion shows, social events, pop up shops and networking meeting new people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has been a huge support system on my entrepreneurship journey. I’m grateful and lucky to be surrounded with a family that encourages, motivates and helps me know matter how big or small.

My business consultant David, owner of DACC Consultants is also a great support and push within my business. He puts me in the right path, holds me accountable, helps & guides me with structures on how to grow business wise & within myself.

My friends are also a huge support system as well. They always give me advice, promote my business, encourage me and eager to help in any way they can.
