We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Limatola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, so many of the folks we connect with are focused on having a positive social impact on their community or the world at large. Can you talk to us about how you are helping the community?
With public schools across the U.S. closing and having difficulty safely re-opening, we felt that we could play a small part in assisting a safe return for kids, school staff, and teachers. So, from day one, our company Swan Sanitizers, began our Public Schools Donation Program that helps us donate sanitizer, stands, stations and other products to public schools. Before even our first sale, we donated a sanitizer stand to a local elementary school! As word of our program spread, the obvious need and lack of proper funding at public schools was evident. We constantly hear from teachers, principals, and school staff asking for help and with a true need for additional sanitizing products. With that being said, we continue to grow our Public Schools Donation Program and are excited to make a small difference.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Myself and my business partner and brother, spent over 10 years building a successful event technology business working with clients like Tiffany & Co. and at events such as the SuperBowl. However, as March 2020 came, along with an unprecedented pandemic, our business saw all of our future events being cancelled. As a result, our sales and business revenues were suddenly halted, causing us to dramatically cut costs. As a result, we reimagined our company, pivoted, and are now manufacturing hand sanitizer stands and stations to businesses nationwide. Using our years of manufacturing and design experience, we began producing products that are helping staff, customers, and guests of various businesses and facilities stay safe. Additionally, we started a Public Schools Donation Program which allows us to donate sanitizer products to public schools nationwide. As business owners, facing ups and downs and various challenges is a common occurrence. However, nothing could have prepared us for the Covid-19 pandemic and the effect it would have on our business and industry. Instead of just settling for this new reality, we took action, made a plan, and began executing. We know many other entrepreneurs and business owners are facing similar hardships. We hope our story encourages others to think outside the box, to consider different business ideas and opportunities, and to stay positive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a family with two little daughters, we enjoy taking them to Disneyland, Universal Studios, and the beautiful beaches we are fortunate to have close by. One of our favorite restaurants is CRAFT LA, you can’t go wrong with anything from their menu.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to everyone I’ve spent time working with in a professional environment. Past bosses, employees that I have managed, to colleagues that have all been a part of my journey. Each and everyone of them has helped me get to where I am today, through mentorship, guidance, support and encouragement. In addition, my family and friends have always provided the support needed to start and grow a business from the ground up.
