We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Rowe Dose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is the old timers. If it wasn’t for a few OG’s taking me under their wing, I wouldn’t be where I am at right now. These guys spent years hiding up in the hills perfecting their craft. That love of the plant and the lifetime of growing knowledge passed down is the main factor behind my success. We stand on the shoulders of giants!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a boutique grower who focuses on old school genetics and long flowering equatorial varieties. What sets me apart from other cultivators is that I don’t grow the hype commercial strains for yield or looks, I grow for effect and quality only. Quality over quantity. It’s definitely not easy, but that hard work and dedication pays off with some really dank herb.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place that I take anyone who visits LA is El Chato Taco Truck on Olympic Blvd in Culver City. It’s by far the best taco truck in LA! I’m definitely going to Dino’s Famous Chicken on Pico Ave in LA and Avilas El Ranchito on Santa Fe Ave in Huntington Park. If they are wanting to go out and see the LA nightlife, I would suggest The Hollywood Roosevelt Tuesday night pool parties. Even if you don’t drink, it’s worth going just to people watch and enjoy the music. And of course no socal trip is complete without going to a concert and the beach!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give credit and recognition to Loompa Farms, Full Sun Farm, Treez, and Blackbeard and Co. These guys are by far the most talented growers I know and am lucky to be able to call each one of them my friend and mentor.
