Meet Mimi | Permanent Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mimi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mimi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Before starting Beauty Full Brows, I was a stay at home mom (I have two beautiful kiddos who are now 14 and 10!). I tried to start working before my second child was born and I managed to get my Real Estate license, but juggling a toddler and a newborn together with starting a new career was simply impossible, especially that my husband worked long hours and I had no help.
When my kids got a little older I decided I wanted to do something FOR ME. Something I am passionate about. I wanted to have an identity besides being a wife and mother. I wanted to show my kids that you can have a life and a career. You can do anything you put your mind to! I thought carefully about what I wanted to do. I’ve always been good at drawing, and I love doing makeup. So, when I got microblading done on my own eyebrows, that was it, I knew that that’s what i wanted to do!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a perfectionist when it comes to my art. Every little detail makes a difference. Every hairstroke matters. I take my time mapping (taking measurements and drawing) my client’s eyebrows to make sure that the final shape and color perfectly suits their face and enhances their features. Whether I’m perfecting their eyebrows, or blushing their lips, I make sure every client leaves my studio with a big smile on their face. Because at the end of the day, that’s what really matters, happy clients!
At Beauty Full Brows my work speaks for itself, well, mainly because it sits on my clients’ faces lol. And I am extremely proud of how my work has evolved over the years. It took a lot of effort, continuous learning, and educating myself about different pigments, needles, machines, and techniques, to get to where I am today. It was not easy, and it definitely came with a lot of challenges. There were days where I doubted myself, days where I wanted to quit. But I pushed through, because I knew that this is my passion. My work gives me a unique sense of fulfillment that’s really like no other. I strive for perfection, and I only want to give my clients the best. So I will never stop learning, never stop improving, and never stop pushing myself to do better even when I think that it’s pretty darn close to perfect!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting from out of town.. oh boy, where do I start! Lol
I would probably take her to the Santa Monica Pier to enjoy the sunshine and the sound of crashing waves, while we get ice cream and maybe go on the ferris wheel to take in the view from high above!
I would definitely dedicate a day to go to Disneyland – I am a huge Disney fan, ever since I was a little girl!
I love comedy shows, so maybe we’d do that one night.
I would also take her to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and walk up and down Rodeo Drive. We’d definitely get some tacos, or maybe some Korean BBQ or stop by my favorite sushi restaurant, Sugar Fish. There’s so much to do in LA and it’s always a fun time!
We would also do a little bit of shopping, so I would take her to South Coast Plaza or maybe Fashion Island! Then at the end of the day, I would take her to Avenue Italy – my favorite Italian restaurant, and we would enjoy a nice bottle of Barolo and eat the best lobster pasta in town!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, my best friend, my biggest supporter. You know, starting a new business is not easy! It comes with a lot of stress, worry, expenses, anxiety, sleepless nights, and fear of failing. My husband, Andrew, was my rock through it all. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for his love, encouragement, and constant support. He made me believe in myself whenever I was in doubt. He is my biggest fan, and I owe everything to him!
I also have to give credit to my two wonderful sisters, who held my hand through it all, and cheered me on every step of the way. Despite the fact that the three of us live in different countries, they were incredibly supportive and I would always turn to them whenever I needed advice or words of encouragement. Marlene and Marie, I love you both very much. Thank you for always pushing me to do better!
