We had the good fortune of connecting with Miriam Jacobson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miriam, what do you attribute your success to?
I genuinely want to help people feel better and nutrition is such a powerful way to do that! My whole focus is helping people feel more alive in their bodies and empowered by food. So much of the wellness industry feeds off of people’s insecurities and makes them feel ‘not enough’ – not skinny enough, not fit enough, etc. Instead, I like to help people not only customize their nutrition for their individual bodies and health goals, but also help them release the limiting beliefs that are keeping themselves from a positive relationship with themselves, their bodies and food!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love the work I do and the people I work with! I am a triple board certified nutritionist and use a combination of functional medicine nutrition, coaching and breath work to support individuals on their healing journeys. I have been living and breathing nutrition for my entire career. The more I learn, the more I fall in love with (and feel humbled by) the healing process! I started my career by studying to become a Registered Dietitian (RD), but by the time I became a dietitian I was hungry to help people in a more meaningful way. My RD training taught me to help people manage their diagnoses with nutrition, but I knew I could make a deeper impact—I wanted to help people optimize their health and feel alive in their bodies. So I returned to school and graduated with my master’s degree in functional medicine nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. During my graduate studies, I started counseling clients at a private nutrition practice in NYC. Working with clients through functional medicine was so exciting because it had such profound effects. Not only did my client’s metabolic markers improve, but seeing the impact of optimal health on their daily lives fulfilled me like nothing else ever had! My clients would come in feeling exhausted, heavy, and bloated and leave feeling energized, confident, brighter, and lighter. I knew I had found my path in the nutritional healing world. It was definitely not an easy process, but the work I do is so rewarding which is why I would do it again in a heartbeat! Nutrition is a constantly evolving field and impacts our lives on so many levels, which is why I feel like I can study forever and still have new things to learn!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This question feels so dreamy now that we’ve been on lock down for months! But let’s pretend it’s not 2020 for a moment 🙂 An ideal weekend with my bestie would include a combination of the following! A music or show at the Hollywood Bowl A hike – either in Griffith Park or Angeles National Forest A trip to the beach – El Matador is my favorite spot in LA! Brunch! Botanica or Kitchen Mouse are some of my favorite brunch spots If we can squeeze it in, a trip to the farmers market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mastermind community has made such a deep impact in my business and life. For the past few years I have been meeting with a group of 5 women every two weeks where we support each other in business, healing and life in general. They have been tremendously supportive in helping me trust my intuition, finding my voice and having more fun in the process! I am so grateful to them and can’t imagine where I would be today without their encouragement and support.
