We had the good fortune of connecting with Misha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Misha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I find immense fulfillment in the process of creating something tangible, bringing an abstract idea to something permanently etched on someone’s skin. From a hazy concept swirling in the mind to a tattoo that tells a story.
In essence, tattooing for me is all about the power of visual storytelling. History of traditional Japanese tattoo art, modern trends, personal stories of my clients – it’s all part of it. It’s exciting.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My works is fusion of traditional Japanese tattoo elements with contemporary Western influences.
The reimagined Japanese tattoo with a modern Western style allows for artistic experimentation and personal expression. It offers a fresh take on traditional Japanese tattoos, merging cultural influences and artistic visions to create tattoos that bridge the gap between Eastern and Western tattoo artistry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It depends on friend’s preferences, of course, and whether I need to show him popular places in Los Angeles. And since I’m passionate about Japanese culture, we can take a walk in the Japanese garden or visit The Japanese American National Museum (or any other museum). And then go eat sushi, for example. By the way, I recently opened a new nice restaurant in Pasadena – Kaviar.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s my wife, Masha. My support and rock. My lover, friend, business partner and the reason why I am where I am.
