We had the good fortune of connecting with Modern Rave Gallery and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Modern Rave, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art has been something my partner and I have always been passionate about. Coming from different backgrounds, we have been able to provide each other with diverse outlooks and decided to channel it into a digital collaboration. Seeing digital art become a new and exciting way to view and collect art, we didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to share our point of view and creative ideas. Also, the accessibility of platforms to sell your artwork on is amazing. Finally, a place where art can be viewed and purchased all in the matter of minutes! Ten years ago when I was creating digital artwork, it was just something you would post to show your friends and if anyone was interested, you would print it out for them. It wasn’t as tangible as a painting or photo. Fast forward to the present time in the meta world, digital art finally has a place.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Modern Rave Gallery is the name of our duo. The name comes from all the talk you hear about the new Meta world (people are raving about it). We are friends, coworkers, and non-fungible token (nft) artists. We are the typical 9-5 full-time workers with families who decided to step outside their normal life and take a chance in the nft world. We felt our passion for art and our unique views might have a chance to make it. We are just starting out and not sure where this adventure will take us. We have been creating several pieces and plan on launching in a month. We hope our art is received well and people find value in it. Our artwork is diverse in subject. We create digital pieces involving well-known people, famous artists, humanized animals, and original artwork. We feel a variety will appeal to more people. A particular piece we found a lot of passion in was our Keith Haring. His artwork has had a major influence on us and we wanted to pay tribute. This piece is a portrait of him with one of his figures falling through the sky. It represents the feeling of falling in love. We especially like this one for it’s digital movement.  We also have funny ones with a bear and Bruce Lee. I’d describe it, but it wouldn’t do it justice. It’s best to view it and more of our favorites on our IG page mrgallerynft.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Definitely visiting the Getty Museum, picking up music at Amoeba, and eating at Canters. All three of these places will feed your soul on some level.

My cousin was here from out of town recently, and I specifically made sure we checked out Griffith Observatory, shopped in Chinatown and made time to eat at Yang Chow. And to cap our day of adventure off, we grabbed a drink at the Edison.

If you have time, or are closer to Orange County, I’d recommend showing off Long Beach. There are several places to visit there, some favorites are visiting the Queen Mary and eating vegan food at Seabirds.

The Attic and Open Sesame are also favorable places in LBC to put on your do-not-miss list.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to send a shoutout to our families and friends. Their support has gotten us here and has pushed us to take a chance. We would also like to recognize each other. We have taken a discussion and have turned it into a reality. We are constantly supporting and motivating each other when doubt sets in. We keep remembering that anything is possible and it’s never too late to take a new direction in life.
