We had the good fortune of connecting with Moja Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Moja, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I got my first taste of entrepreneurship in elementary school. To pay for school lunch, I drew flipped versions of cartoon characters like Beavis and Butthead and skateboard graphics from brands like World Industries. Over time, I started to recognize the intersectionality of my talents. Thus, I never could fit the mold, from getting released from an art academy to employers being intimidated by my jack-of-all-trades identity. I saw these opportunities at the crossing of social impact and design, so instead of waiting for someone to call on me, I just started capturing these moments as they came. Thus, starting my own business was the only way I could get these damn ideas out of my head.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am not apart.

I’m deeply entangled in a complex nucleus with my peers. I take pride in my intersectionality, which goes beyond my ego, allowing me to collaborate with many other disruptive beings.

My journey has been challenging, starting as a freelance creative and navigating the industry’s glass ceilings. I ripped red tape through perseverance, continuous learning, and a commitment to authentic storytelling. The most important lesson I’ve learned is the power of conversation – genuine narratives that reflect people’s experiences and aspirations. My brand is dedicated to creating meaningful change, not just visually appealing work. I strive to inspire curiosity and provoke behavioral change through every little nuance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person reading this right now.

Whether we like it or not, we are all interconnected, even if one of us is the outlier. We are innately social creatures, thriving on connection and community. Our purpose is linked to the support and influence of our environment – from the soil, weather, ancestors, non-living, and beyond.

Everyone who experiences my work plays a crucial role in my story. It doesn’t matter if you’re actively engaging, giving your unwanted opinion, or praising me by giving me your business. Your mere existence interacting with me shapes and inspires my creative journey. So, to all of you reading this, I would like to remind you that we’re all mirrors reflecting the energy around us – thank you.
