We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from Atlanta, GA but I moved to Baton Rouge at age 10. I’ve lived here since, I even moved back to Atlanta for some time but found my way to what I call home, Baton Rouge again. I was raised by entrepreneurs both my mom, stepdad, and father were business owners. My father is an attorney and my mom owned childcare centers for most of my life. I like to say I was blessed with two dads.

It sounds cliche but my entire life I was told I could do anything or be anything I wanted to be if I was willing to work for it and had faith in God. I failed a lot but I knew that I would find my way to success, I had watched my parents overcome so much. I had to watch them lose staff and restart. My mother always gracefully prevailed. She is my inspiration not only in business but in parenting as well. It doesn’t just stop with me, my sisters and brothers are all successful and noteworthy. I am grateful for all that everyone has poured into me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Polished Interaction is a fractional Human Resource company. We specialize in working with digital and traditional marketing agencies. Our niche is what sets us apart, we understand marketing, the makeup of teams, and the intricate challenges one faces in building this kind of business. From onboarding, reviews, hiring, employee relations, and offboarding we become the end-to-end HR solution for companies.

I am incredibly proud of the progress our clients have made working with us, because of my background in marketing, sales, and operations I am able to provide more than HR support. I offer a customized approach and solution to businesses that find themselves challenged navigating the people space.

It absolutely has not been easy. I trained for years for this role. I made very little money for a long time and worked 13-14 hour days while obtaining my master’s degree. That alone was just the experience, now that I have been running my own business for the last two years I have faced the frightening reality that it is up to me that this company succeeds.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

1. No one owes you anything, let go of your ego. Clients, staff, and support will come and go but you have to be humble enough to be grateful when it’s there and ok when it isn’t.
2. People will be smarter than you, sometimes even better but if you can be consistent and show up you will outwork most people and you will see the fruits of the seeds you plant.
3. All you have is All you need. Comparison is a trap that most of us fall into when starting we want to grow faster and make more, we feel inadequate but the way I do it isn’t how you would and that’s ok. My way is my unique value proposition.
4. Set your goal and work backward. Don’t figure out how to get to your first million. Decide that you will get to 1 million and create the steps it takes to get there.

I want to world to know that we will change the corporate outlook on Human Resource departments our goal is to create alignment from the executives to the interns.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question. Baton Rouge is an incredible city. I would recommend you start with brunch at Solou it’s an upscale and vibey spot.

Next, I would take you to one of the best-kept secrets in Baton Rouge “NudXNola” (https://www.nudxnola.com/) my absolute favorite spa to be pampered. The owner has an incredibly creative concept and gallery. It almost feels like a lounge, I always leave feeling relaxed and beautiful.

After we are good and relaxed, I’d make plans to have dinner at the Supper Club, I like to get glam so I’d reach out to @glamaddictbeauty on Instagram she’s a mobile makeup artist and licensed cosmologist.

Sunday Morning before heading to the airport I’d recommend a 3-mile walk at the LSU lakes, stop for a snowball before heading back to the airport.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, God, there have been some dark days and my faith has been the only thing I’ve had to stand on. Building a business is isolating but knowing God is with me is the most comforting thing I’ve had to rely on.

Family, particularly my mom, Corinthian. She is my voice of reason. She never gave me the luxury of quitting or feeling sorry for myself. When I became a teen mom, got divorced, closed my business, moved states, and reopened she was right there helping me plan my next move. She a unicorn and I could not do this without her.

Michael and Jessica Mogill at Crisp. For three years the two of them served as my mentor and coach. Never withholding the details of how they built their multi-million dollar business. Supporting me through my HR certification, and MBA program and pushing me to hit goals that I many times thought were impossible. When it was time for me to leave and start my own business they referred my first client who is with me to this day. My gratitude is endless.
