We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgen Howells and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgen, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I believe the most important thing I’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact on my children is to acknowledge my mistakes, take responsibility for myself and my choices, and show them that no matter what your circumstances, it is possible to restore your integrity at persevere. Your past does not define your future. Commit to what you stand for and follow through…anything is possible!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Floral design is a craft like no other. The applications are endless and creativity has no boundaries! I love that I can create language and emotion with flowers. I think this company and our vision is what it is because we are profoundly aware of our human responsibility. It’s not just about the product we provide, but the experience we create for our clients and their loved ones. Now, that being said, I’ve learned that it can be dangerous to be overly empathetic when operating a business. It’s hard to say no in order to maintain a profitable, sustainable brand. So, I’ve also learned how to fulfill our burning desire to give to the community by creating partnerships with local non-profits and providing an opportunity for our clients to get involved and support our efforts. It’s a win win and a beautiful thing! Our brand revolves around the concepts of creating happiness and cultivating kindness. It’s who we are at the core and what we strive for everyday. Whenever a challenge faces us, we look for the opportunity to do this. It’s always there….sometimes harder to find, but we won’t give up until we’ve honored our commitment in every situation.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Juan Capistrano is saturated with history, art, amazing food, wine, and beauty everywhere you look! We’d recommend staying at the stunning new Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano that is within steps of the historic Mission ruins. Ellie’s Table is a must for breakfast/brunch (do NOT leave without one of their famous kouin-amann filled with creme brulee!). Just across the street is more amazing eateries such as The Sundried Tomato Bistro, Trevor’s on the Tracks, and El Adobe Mexican Restaurant, all of which we love and enjoy frequently! You’re also gonna want to take a stroll down the Historic Los Rios District and visit even more incredibly eateries and shopping there. If you are animal lovers like we are, make sure to take a trip to Zoomars to get close and cuddly with a variety of animals from guinea pigs to emus! Just a couple miles down the road you’ll find the Dana Point Harbor, another of our favorite hang outs. Great food, drinks, and shopping. You can also jump on a whale watching boat adventure or paddle board around the harbor. And the Ocean Institute is a great stop, especially with the kiddos. Note worthy destinations in Dana Point also include Maison Cafe + Market, JC Beans Coffee House, Monarch Resort and Salt Creek beach next to the Ritz Carlton Just a little further South is the beautiful beach city of San Clemente, also a worthy destination for food, drink, shopping, and epic sunsets on the pier. You’re gonna want to spend some time on Del Mar. Our favorite taco spot is definitely La Tiendita on Avenida Victoria. So good! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must shout out to my family and the family of my late husband. When I was unable to stand on my own, they carried me through. And most importantly a shout out to my now husband Chris, who truly gave me the strength and the confidence to make this dream business a reality. None of this is possible without him.
