We had the good fortune of connecting with Morissa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morissa, how do you think about risk?
Risk has always felt less like danger and more like discovery to me. As a kid, I was a bit of a daredevil. I grew up climbing the massive boulder mountains on the Hopi reservation. There was always a thrill in finding a new route upward, not knowing if the path would open up or dead end, but trusting myself to keep moving. That same spirit has carried into my life and career. If I hadn’t taken risks, I never would have discovered who I truly am, who I desire to be, or have built my business, a creation that not only reflects me, but has given me extraordinary opportunities to shine, to grow, and to express myself. To me, risk isn’t about recklessness; it’s about transformation.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art—and my business—are built on resilience and imagination. What I’m most proud of is that I never gave up, even when it would have been the easy choice. I’ve had people I trusted steal my first business name and try to sell it back to me, I lost a partnership very early on, I had my funds drained during my very first Christmas season and couldn’t fulfill orders, and I’ve continuously had big corporations take my ideas and designs as their own. Each of those moments could have been the end of my story, but instead they fueled me. I kept going, because I know my worth, I know what I bring to the table, and I know no one else can do what I do the way I do it.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just creating products—I’m creating statement pieces. Gothic-inspired works of art that live in your home, elevate your pets’ worlds, and celebrate a community that has always been a part of who I am. Every piece is infused with quality, imagination, and ambition.

The path hasn’t been easy, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Every obstacle has taught me strength, creativity under pressure, and the value of never compromising on my vision. What I want the world to know is this: My brand is more than furniture or accessories—it’s about creating a magical, spooky sanctuary where both people and their pets can shine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want to give them the perfect mix of magic, mystery, and classic LA fun. Of course, we’d start with Disneyland—because no trip is complete without a little wonder. Then we’d head to the ocean: swimming at Manhattan Beach for that perfect California sun, and people-watching in Venice or Santa Monica for the pure energy of it all.

Food is part of the adventure, so we’d stop at Doomies for their legendary vegan fried chicken, grab a cozy meal at Lotus Vegan, and if we’re lucky, catch The Frankenstand—a spooky street food experience like no other. Rad Coffee would definitely make an appearance as well.

I’d take them down Magnolia Boulevard for a spooky shopping spree—places like Halloweentown, the Mystic Museum, and Blast From the Past are absolute treasures for anyone who loves the darker, quirkier side of life.

For something truly unforgettable, I’d weave in some iconic filming locations—the Halloween house, the Insidious house, even Michael Jackson’s Thriller spot—because Los Angeles is like living inside cinema history. At night, we’d wander the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for a touch of the macabre, explore the abandoned zoo at Griffith Park, and visit the stunning Greystone Manor with all its mystery and glamour.

A week like that would be equal parts whimsical, spooky, and uniquely LA—the kind of trip you don’t just experience, but remember forever

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who deserve recognition in my journey. My grandparents, who ran their own business, showed me what it meant to work hard and build something of your own. My godmother, born on Halloween, has always been the Halloween queen in my eyes—she introduced me to the spooky and kooky world that continues to inspire everything I create. My parents taught me the value of determination and resilience through their own hard work, and my partner has been the grounding force who helps me stay focused and bring my visions to life. As well as some who are no longer in my life but who remain unforgettable teachers. And, of course, my cats because without them, none of this would exist. They are my muses, my inspiration, and the reason behind it all.
