We had the good fortune of connecting with Morrisa Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morrisa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Freedom Apothecary was born from a vivid dream. After running my body care e-commerce business, Meaux Moisture, for three years and while pregnant with my second daughter, I was feeling burnt out and searching for a deeper sense of purpose. The dream was so clear, from the decor to the name. The next morning, I began the journey to create Freedom Apothecary, and I haven’t looked back since.

What should our readers know about your business?
Freedom Apothecary is a clean beauty wellness and lifestyle space, showcasing a carefully curated selection of products from women-led brands. We offer facial services and host community events and workshops. Celebrating five years in business has been quite the journey—delayed by 18 months, facing the pandemic just eight months after opening, and relocating from Philly to New Orleans in 2023. Throughout this process, I’ve learned to trust my intuition and follow my gut, even when it’s challenging. I feel deeply connected to my purpose and am committed to staying aligned with it. In addition to Freedom Apothecary, I’m a serial entrepreneur with other ventures that amplify and center Black voices, promote wellness, joy, and rest. Stay tuned for more!
