We had the good fortune of connecting with Movado Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Movado, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to initially make a living and I a free in my career path I realized how much this is what I should have been doing . i often times like to think that starting this brand changed my life , stoped me from going down a really dark path but the more I created I realized it was simply a medium to expresss my art form , to put out all my creative ideas as it pertains to fashion but most importantly to do something that I am passionate about, something meaningful and something that would potentially change me and my family lives whilst making an income.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I wear many hats for my Brand and I think that in it self is what sets me apart from other – just talent . Im first the Founder and Ceo but this boss is also a worker .
I am the fashion designer , the creative director , the stylist , the photographer , the content creator , the videographer , the person who develops the website , does the finances , customer care and the list goes on but my passion for fashion as allowed me to teach and learn other thing so I can overall aid my Self to grow in my career path . Because in the initial stages there’s not a very big budget to cover certain thing that we would like to do but I also wanted to create a certain atmosphere for my brand so i took on other jobs for my passion so that I was able to express my art in a way that I would like to as oppose to what the budget can do and as it pertains to my art this is literally who I am I use my clothing brand to express my self , every piece we’ll thought out , every piece has meaning .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok. Just off the top of my head I’d say

We’d definitely brunch at The Maybourne

For drinks – Avra Beverly Hills

Lunch – the ivy kitchen and bar

Hang out – 3rd base LA

Mr chow , Tao , Catch steak

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes , firstly Shout out to God , he deserves all the credit for everything and everywhere I’ve reached so far . If it wasn’t for that grace I don’t know where I’d be .
My Mom and my family – she is literally a driving force without here even understanding to what immensity. One of biggest goal is to make my mum proud to do everything I promised her I would have a more and just that allows me to keep pushing even when I get discouraged I know she wouldn’t want me to give up
My customers – EVERYTIME I create and you guys love and purchase the items it drives me to continue producing ,to want to do better , to provide better so thank you

And lastly but not least , My muses( Beautiful women) especially one of friends (Dice ) . Y’all have played such a important role in my creative process because often times I create in yall likeness, thinking of designs that would enhance you ladies overall appearance, creating to make women look and feel good .
