We had the good fortune of connecting with Murtaza Ezzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Murtaza, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Since the day I got my hands on my first kodak camera, I have memorialized my loved ones and printed photos. Photography and I have a beautiful history. I felt drawn to the art of photography since I was a mere child. When I was 7, due to an accident I got stitches on my tongue. As a child, this caused some speaking disabilities to manifest. I had a lot of trouble expressing myself there after. I always felt conscious of the stitches on my tongue. Fortunately, I was able to overcome this. However, I sought a way to express myself. A way to communicate with others about how I see the world. I was fascinated by the idea that a contraption called a camera could in its essence capture a moment in time. This is how MKEshoots started. I felt that these special moments need to be captured as it is. To capture your precious moments in time. Mother’s eyes welling up with tears as she sees bride ready to walk down the aisle, or the look of love in groom’s eyes as his heart skips a beat when they share first kiss– these memories are priceless. These moments deserve to be felt not seen. I strive to capture cherished moments so my couple can relive them again and again. Let me show you how I see the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a candid-Style photographer. I like to capture photos in its true form meaning my couple in engagement session should feel they are on a date, and on wedding day they should not be worried about posing, they should be enjoying their wedding day. So I strive to make this happen with personal connection and going out of my way to get my couple trust me. Most of my clients say they didn’t even noticed I was taking pictures, that is what I strive for, and that is what makes me apart from other. I connect with my couples really easily. Today, I have received multiple awards and recognition. Our motto is to “Capture a moment in Time.” Quite literally and figuratively. We believe that when our clients open their wedding album and gaze upon their wedding photos, they will relive the sound of the wedding bells chiming, the fragrance of the beautiful roses handpicked by their mother, or how their heart skipped a beat when they laid eyes on their bride walking down the aisle– taking them back to those special moments in time. We have one goal, to go above and beyond our clients expectations. We become your friend, a shoulder to lean on and become more than you expected on your wedding day. We love foraging lifelong friendships with our clients that goes beyond their big day. With more than 6-years of experience in this field, we strive to capture the timeless love stories of every couple for years to come. Our specialty is to capture candid photos especially the minuscule but invaluable moments at a wedding- the ones that make your heart melt. Photography is an art form, and we treat each moment as a piece of art.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So if my fiend would be visiting me, I would first take him for a Morning hike to Malibu Creek State Park, then we would go for a breakfast at Blue Jam, which serves the best and healthy breakfast. After that we would pack our bags and go to Yosemite National Park, that’s my favorite national park. I think I can easily get Rangers job there, that how well I know Yosemite. After 2 days trip to Yosemite, we would go explore HIghway 1 (Bigsur and 17 mile drive). The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The biggest support of my sucess is my wife and my parents who believed in me, and encouraged me to take risks. In learning process its Pye Jirsa, his course in SLR lounge build my photography skill foundation and then I met JJordan Correces who helped me understand how to market Wedding Photography business. Without these people I would have not been where I am today in my business.
