We had the good fortune of connecting with Muuzik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Muuzik, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is what actually allows your dreams to become goals and eventually transform into reality. The element of responsibility honestly develops more when you start taking risks. Even now, that’s honestly what’s kind of allowed my career to start shifting into what I have always envisioned.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, I DJ and produce music. House music is my preferred genre. From the gecko, I’ve always had an independent approach. Everything I know up until this point comes from self knowledge and choosing to network. I wouldn’t say I’m even close to where I want to be, but I think that the beauty in it all. I always give myself the opportunity to learn and get better. To be honest that’s what I’m most proud of. It takes courage to do things on your own and believe in yourself the entire time. And, no its not easy doing what I do. It’s challenging, and I learn new things every day. I’ve realized its about believing in yourself and meeting as many people as you possibly can. I think that’s what excites me the most, to be honest, I love the idea of being your own biggest supporter and getting the chance to meet new people all the time because of what your passionate about.

As far as lessons I’ve learned, I would say the most important would have to be the following: the biggest obstacle you will encounter is yourself. No one really cares as much about your life as you do, so they aren’t necessarily worried about it. You on the other hand, passionately love what you do, and you are your biggest critic. Balance is the only way to combat that struggle, and its always going to be something you have to address.

I think what I want people to know about Muuzik and his work is that I genuinely enjoy doing what I do. Muuzik has a come a long way from DJing and producing in his bedroom, but I’m no where near where I want to be. Muuzik’s goal is to allow a space for people too express and communicate through music. He’s learning, and he’s passionate. It’s honestly just a matter of time, I truly believe that.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My good friend Annie G Olmedo is worthy of the praise. After my first ever gig, I shared how I fell in love with DJing and realized I wanted to be in the music industry. She expressed how vivid the passion was, and she told me to trust my gut and peruse what seems to have been my calling. From the beginning, which is about 6 years ago, she’s supported my crazy dream, and I’m thankful for that.
