We had the good fortune of connecting with Myeisha Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Myeisha, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
In the last few years, I have been able to acknowledge and recognize how important it is to maintain true balance. In the past I used to work around 60 hours a week, 6 days a week. I had little to no balance and no time for it. I did not maintain my mental health in a way I felt would be ideal. My physical health and spiritual health were also not as optimal as I would have liked, and my relationships were not as enriching as I had hoped for. I was merely just getting by. After my two high risk pregnancies, I was able to realize and acknowledge the toll a lack of balance had in my life. I now value having balance in my life in a more meaningful way. I have set boundaries around how many hours I work, set intentions to protect my mental health, connected more spiritually, and made more efforts to stay connected in my relationships with others. It has allowed me to be more present as a human being. I am now able to be present as a parent, as a wife, as a friend, and as a Therapist, because I now feel balanced. When I think about balance, I not only think about mental health, physical health, and relationships, but I also think about the mind and body connection. When I am grounded and aware, I can discern when I am no longer balanced. I can feel the disconnect in mind and body. I find it extremely important to protect my own energy and peace through maintaining balance. Its imperative to know when to take pause from caring for others to check in to care for yourself. I now ensure that I make space to do the things I love, like spending time with my beautiful family, practicing self care, going on solo dates, traveling, and connecting with friends.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My practice is located in Encino Ca. I am currently offering and expanding services to clients throughout CA through telehealth and am most excited about servicing people who come from marginalized populations. I am passionate about supporting them throughout their healing journey and helping to find peace. I have always had a love for helping others and have always known that my life’s work would be in part to give back to others. The road here has not always been easy, but it most definitely has been worth it. Words can never explain the depths of the beauty that you witness as someone finds healing and peace within themselves. It truly magical. I have learned many things along the way, but some of the most important things I have learned is to be patient, give myself permission to unapologetically be my authentic self, have self-compassion, and to find joy in life. I truly love the work that I do. It is a much a part of me as the air that I breath. I deeply value mental health and am a huge advocate for caring for and maintaining your mental health. Caring for our mental health is something we all need to make a priority.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my Village. My Village is my family and friends. Without the love and support of my Mother, Father, Husband, Grandparents and a host of others I would not be where I am today. They have helped me to become the person I am and many have contributed to me becoming a Therapist and following my dreams to help others heal generational trauma.
