We had the good fortune of connecting with Nabil Thouri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nabil, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I have a very optimistic approach on risk. I embrace it because I believe that a life without risk is bland and unfulfilling. My high ambitions often push me to take various risks, both big and small. I listen to my heart, even though many of these risks don’t pan out and can create significant problems. However, the few times they do work out, they’ve brought immense change and growth to my life.
In fact, it’s probably why I’m here in Los Angeles today, pursuing my dream of becoming an actor. At a certain point, I had to take a huge risk to chase this dream. I draw inspiration from successful people who emphasize the importance of taking risks and never giving up. Nobody is going to do it for me, so I have to endure the struggles that come with these risks before they pay off.
We often fear risk because we’ve been conditioned to, but I see it more as an opportunity. When risks work out, they can lead to incredible blessings after the storm.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love to play using an intense and physical style. I understood that my oddly extravagant nature brings a specific authenticity to each character I portray. I infuse each role with my own personality to make it as unique and interesting as possible. Have to be catchy!
I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved so far. It might sound small, but finding a consistent mindset and discipline is tough given the demanding pace, and I’m grateful for having a good head on my shoulders (most of the time).
Getting to where I am professionally is quite a story. Originally from the south of France, I left everything for the glamorous Hollywood, a journey of patience, hard work, and adaptation. I wasn’t quite prepared for the loneliness and hectic speed that can come with it. But I’m thankful for the chance to live my dream and the wonderful people I’ve met. Also, I’m in a situation of starvation!
Confidence and optimism have kept me motivated through tough times. I’m by myself, so I must take care of myself, and remember that even bad days are just small bumps in a wonderful life. Moving forward is always the best solution. What other choice do I have anyway?
The road ahead is long, yet exciting, and I stay inspired every day. When I make it, I want people to understand that despite the hardships, I wouldn’t regret a second of it, and that nobody has to tell you how to live your life. Doing what you love is truly a blessing, and with passion can come achievements beyond your expectations.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friends came to visit, we’d start with the understanding that we’d all be broke together, because that’s just our reality no matter how hard we try!
But seriously, I’d show them some of Los Angeles’ most famous spots. We’d visit the Santa Monica Pier, hike up to the Hollywood sign, and have lunch on some downtown rooftops. We’d go thrift shopping on Melrose Avenue and walk around Beverly Hills. We’d hit up local bars in Hollywood, Venice, K-town, and spend some time at the beach.
For a special treat, I’d take them to Universal Studios. I love amusement parks, and this one, with its focus on movies and cinema, is one of my favorite places in the city. Also, it would be illegal not to take them to a Lakers game.
And if by some miracle we ended up with more money than expected, we’d go on a weekend trip to Las Vegas. Sure, we’d probably lose everything at the casino, but we’d get some great pictures.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shout-out to my family, who have been supportive since day one in everything I’ve done. My friends, mentors, instructors, and everyone who helped me take my first steps in this wonderful business of acting, your support means the world to me. I’m doing this not just for myself, but for all of you. When I make it, I’ll be proud to say that we made it happen together. But for now, it’s time for me to prove my worth.
