Meet Nadia Mistry | CA Licensed Naturopathic Doctor and Wellness Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadia Mistry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nadia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business, Mistry Wellness, stemmed from a deeply personal journey—a journey of rediscovery and healing amidst the challenges of motherhood. When my husband and I welcomed our first baby boy after years of pursuing our educational dreams, we were overjoyed. As a naturopathic practitioner, I felt equipped—I’d counseled countless patients, assisted numerous moms, and felt confident I was ready for the best pregnancy and the healthiest postpartum imaginable. However, our son’s NICU stay shattered my homebirth plan, and breastfeeding was far from the serene experience I’d imagined. I struggled with postpartum anxiety, insomnia, brain fog, and an unprecedented level of fatigue that felt alien to me.
The whirlwind continued into the following years. Two years postpartum, I found myself battling severe insomnia, insulin resistance from chronic stress, and a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s. My OB suggested I take metformin and progesterone if I wanted to conceive again. The advice from conventional medicine felt limiting and impersonal. But That’s when I turned back to my naturopathic roots, seeking holistic and sustainable ways to reclaim my health. I started with the basics, tweaking my diet, integrating exercise that felt good rather than punishing, and selecting supplements that helped rebuild my thyroid and adrenal function. And guess what? I was blessed with a second pregnancy—filled with its own unique challenges but also with the knowledge and tools to navigate them.
I understand all too well the challenges that women face daily—the juggling act of balancing family and career, the fatigue, the overwhelm, the endless to-do lists, and the dreams put on hold for family. I also understand that wellness is more than just science and supplementation. That’s why I created Mistry Wellness to address the whole unique person—mind, body, and soul.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Mistry Wellness is more than a medical practice; it’s a testament to the healing and empowerment that’s possible when we listen to and care for our bodies. My approach is unique from other naturopathic clinics. As a naturopathic doctor specializing in women’s health, I am trained in science-backed solutions for hormonal optimization. But as a fellow mom and woman, I understand that ‘wellness’ goes beyond pills and supplements.
I spend a considerable amount of time getting to know my patients. First consultations are two hours long, where in addition to taking a detailed health history, I delve into what makes the patient tick—stress, sleep, exercise, social support, and what drives and lights them up. I create individualized treatment plans for each patient based on the five pillars of my program: functional medicine testing to identify root causes, high-quality evidence-based nutritional supplements, nutrition, lifestyle hacking, and mindset. The support doesn’t end there; I’m there to support the patient every step of the way with weekly check-ins, HIPAA-compliant chat, and bimonthly telehealth visits.
Maya Angelou once said, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” This sentiment deeply resonates with me and forms the foundation of my mission at Mistry Wellness.
Whether you’re dealing with hormonal imbalances, seeking to elevate your energy levels, or searching for a sustainable path to wellness, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite place to hang out in South OC is the Crystal Cove State Park area. The hiking is easy with kids, and there are so many fun spots to explore. From taking stairs down to a secluded beach area to visiting the famous Beachcomber’s restaurant, there’s always something new to discover. Right across from the park is one of our favorite restaurants, Bear Flag, which serves amazing fresh seafood.
Another beloved spot is the San Juan Capistrano district. It features a playground, the legendary Zoomars Petting Zoo, and delicious restaurants that are sure to satisfy all ages.
When it comes to beach hopping, my favorites are Aliso Beach, known for being family-friendly with a restaurant on-site, and Dana Point State Beach. But before hitting the sand, don’t forget to pick up a delicious lunch at Vibe Organic Kitchen and Juice.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to my patients. They have been my greatest teachers, and I am honored and humbled that they have chosen and trusted me as their doctor and guide on the path to wellness.
Next, I want to thank the three most important men in my life – my husband, who has always been my rock and my unwavering supporter, even during moments of self-doubt. To my two sons, you challenge me daily to be the best version of myself. You have been my greatest teachers in unconditional love, patience and humility.
None of this journey would be possible without my incredible family. To my sister, my biggest cheerleader, thank you for believing in me and encouraging me to pursue my dream of starting my own business. I also want to extend my deepest thanks to my parents for their unconditional support, for helping me raise my first son, and for instilling in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and determination. And to my mother-in-law, a fierce advocate for women, who encouraged me to pursue naturopathic medical school, thank you for your unwavering belief in me.
Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to my teacher, colleague and friend , Dr. Simon Barker (https://pasadenanaturalhealth.com) and Dr. Heather Sandison (www.solcere.com). Your mentorship and support have been instrumental in shaping my journey, and I am truly appreciative of all that you have done for me.
