Meet Nai’vasha Grace | Global Hairstylist & Founder of Curl Queen

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nai’vasha Grace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nai’vasha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Taking risks has been the cornerstone of my journey. Without the audacity to dream, the opportunity to take those risks would have never happened . I moved to NYC with five young children and no solid plan, starting from earning $250 every two weeks in a Fifth Avenue salon with no clients. Through relentless determination, I became an award-winning hairstylist. During the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic, I self-funded my now award winning haircare company. This was all because I dared to dream and take risks. Success demands risk-taking. If you don’t believe in your own brand, how can you inspire others to?

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a trailblazer in the professional hair industry, empowering women through innovative work and founding Curl Queen, a brand dedicated to quality and inclusivity in hair care. With a deep understanding of the unique needs of various hair types, Curl Queen offers products that mainstream brands often overlook and filling a crucial gap in the market.
As a visible advocate for diversity and representation, I use my platform to drive meaningful change in the beauty industry. My work challenges societal norms and promotes the acceptance and celebration of natural beauty, helping to dismantle restrictive beauty standards. By pushing the boundaries of traditional hairstyling, I have set new trends and redefined standards of beauty and creativity.
My journey is also a testament to resilience and success. Overcoming numerous challenges and stereotypes, I have carved out a significant space for myself and other women in a competitive industry. My story is not just about hairstyling; it’s about breaking barriers, inspiring others, and creating a lasting legacy that celebrates and uplifts all forms of beauty.
One of the biggest challenges I face is balancing motherhood and business. Being a mother of five and a founder is not for the faint of heart. I would be lying if I said I’ve completely overcome this challenge; rather, I see it as an ever-evolving journey. Each day brings new lessons and requires constant adjustment.
I want to share with young women the wisdom that you don’t have to wait for a seat at the table—you can create your own table and be the star of your own show. The world is full of opportunities, and sometimes, the best way to seize them is by forging your own path. Believe in your vision, trust in your abilities, and don’t be afraid to take bold steps toward your dreams.
Creating your own table means building a space where you feel empowered and valued, where your voice matters, and where you can lead with confidence. It’s about taking initiative, being resilient in the face of challenges, and knowing that you are capable of
achieving greatness. Remember, you have the power to shape your own destiny and to inspire others by your example. So, be fearless, stay true to yourself, and embrace the journey of becoming the star of your own show.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to “shoutout”
1. My Mother
**My mother has been such a warrior in my life, the human personification of love. She is my forever beauty inspiration, womanhood, and business. Everything that I am, she was first,
2. My children
**My children taught me the importance of balancing work and home. I’m still learning but the grace they’ve extended while I take big risks in business thus taking bigger risks at home is unmatched.
