We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakaila & Alexandria Sandidge & Garland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakaila & Alexandria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We started our business during the pandemic, like a lot of business owners in the heat of 2020. We started our business with the thought of there being a gap in the clothing industry for black young professionals like ourselves. Although we have nine to five jobs, we like to dress with confidence in and outside of work and that’s what our brand represents. We knew wanted to bring a different approach to casual business attire and what women enjoyed wearing outside of work without being looked at as distasteful. We knew there were many women like ourselves wanting to bring a balance to the clothing industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
From the very beginning, all we’ve had is each other. Learning, growing, completely blowing it, TOGETHER. Having a business is in no way easy. We’ve faced a lot of very expensive mistakes but we had each other to lean on in those times. We’ve learned to document, save receipts and never give up. We started on this journey and will continue till the wheels off! We want everyone to know that we are very passionate about making sure women feel and look confident inside and out of the office. We know it can be frustrating trying to look the part knowing you only have once chance to make a good impression; not only for you, but for the women who will walk in after you. We pride ourselves on being the example for those who wish to follow our journey and we want to empower more women to do so. Now is a great time to be in cyber security, especially for the minority.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to Runyon Canyon to see one of the best views of LA For a nice relaxing beach go to Malibu or Laguna Beach
Hollywood Walk of Fame
Top Golf which is new to the city for fun

We would eat at Bossa Nova, one of the most consistent restaurants
Pann’s for breakfast, they have the best pancakes
Tito’s tacos, for a traditional taco in the city

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We have received mentorship from other successful business owners around the Los Angeles area and in Atlanta.

The first person we would like to highlight is Markesha Yarbrough, she was very big on teaching us about marketing and branding.

The second person would be Silk Delorian, she’s a mentor in the e-commerce business space, she has operated multiple businesses and has had a successful run.

Lastly Ryan Wilson, he was very supportive in our rebrand of our business and marketing as well.
