We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakia Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakia, why did you pursue a creative career?
Ive known my whole life what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be. Ive always known I wanted to work in the entertainment space but for a long time I was not sure how to reach the goal. I am so happy that I went for it and invested my time into this career full time

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am am Entertainment Journalist & Reporter, On Air Host, TV Producer, Writer, Podcaster and content creator. If you asked 15 year old me what my title would of been today, I would of been lost. I knew I always wanted to work in the entertainment industry and I know I always wanted to work in front of the camera but I had so many things I was interested in, I was so afraid I would not be able to do them all. I thought I was only going to wear one hat and I realized that there is no such thing.

I started in acting. I’ve been acting since I was really young and I just knew I was going to be an actress. But at the same time I loved music and film and I wanted to know more about them but I had no idea what that was called at the time. But when I seen people like Oprah, Ananda Lewis, Free, Wendy Williams, Angie Martinez, LaLa and more, I knew I wanted to do what they were doing.

With that being said, I encourage any and everyone to wear as many hats as possible, as many as YOU want to wear! Dont let anyone put a cap on your dreams and your career

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
oooo I love this question. As a mixxy girl myself, I love discovery new spots in LA and visiting old spots that I love so dearly. I am also rebranding the word mixxy and turning it into a positive lol

I would fist take you to get a Matcha with me! As the certified Matcha queen, I would take you t a few of my favorite matcha spots in the city: Community Goods, Horror Vibes Coffee or Dialog Cafe for a matcha lemonade.

Then we would go hiking because duh this is LA! lol You will probably want to go to Runyon but I would recommended Fryman, Tuna Canyon in Malibu or Griffith Park

And then its time for the best part, A boozy Brunch! I would take you to 1212 Santa Monica, my favorite neighborhood spot: City Kitchen, Met her at a bar, Hamburger Mary’s in Weho or my favorite: La Boheme

I would then take you thrifting with me because we love a good thrift store / market

We would then take a nap because napping is very important and we need our rest for the rest of the night. lol.

To cap the night off after our lovely naps I would then take you to a few roof tops or to a few themed parties that are out here like Everyday People, See You Soon, RnB House Party, or a Rose G party !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
something I love and appreciative of you guys is giving us the creatives the time and space to show love and shoutout the people who helped us get to where we are now! I am sure I can speak for most folks when I say we wouldn’t be where we are today without the people who have helped us and spoke our names in rooms!

I want to give a shoutout to everyone who has helped me along my journey. Thank you for mentioning my names in rooms that I am not in. Thank you for recommending me for jobs and gigs and being that amazing reference for me. Thank you for introducing me to the people who were able to give me a shot. Thank you for just thinking of me and always calling when there may be a job for me. Thank you to everyone who trusted me with a project or gig. Thank you to the people who have me shot after shot and gave me so many opportunities.

I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for any of you. I am forever grateful and there is not enough thank you’s in the world !
