We had the good fortune of connecting with Nash Jacquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nash, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Sorry For Fingerboarding had started as a passion project. Fingerboarding has always been a subculture of skateboarding, There wasn’t many events or meet ups going on around in my area and i wanted to change that. As a kid I always watched videos of the meet ups in europe or the east coast and wished for something like that, When i got the opportunity to be able to host and create the community for fingerboarding here on the west coast i couldn’t pass it up.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To get to where i am today has been an up and down process for over 10 years, it did not happen overnight and took a lot of trials to get things right. We are still learning every move we make. Sorry has started out as an event that catered to fingerboarders around the world. We strive to keep the competition level high, move away from your desk at home or the video on instagram and show those skills in real life. Keeping the movement of competition forward we are also developing products for the last 5 years now. Made in house by my Pops and I. From decks, ramps, parks and soft goods it is all developed in house by us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we are in Long Beach, Go to joe josts and get the special and a ice cold root beer. If we are in LA go to Walts Bar, grab a hotdog and hamms
The list goes on, if you know where the curbs are, go and slappy with your friends. all you need is your skateboard.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d Like to dedicate this to my family and girlfriend, for always being by my side during the whole process. Also Rivet.
