Meet Natalia Nakopia | Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Nakopia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When I really love something, I try not to let fear get in the way. I consider risk-taking a commitment to my craft. As a music artist and creative, embracing risks is super important for growth and success. Every time I release a song, share an out-of-the-box idea, or reveal my intimate thoughts and emotions through my music, I take a risk that may feel intimidating but proves to be incredibly fulfilling in the end, regardless of the outcome. This process has inspired me to create and has taught me courage and self-love; without risk, there is simply no reward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From an early age, I’ve been passionate about songwriting and singing. As a Georgian, I hold a deep appreciation for my country’s beautiful heritage and culture. I strive to reflect that in my music by fusing my favorite genres such as contemporary R&B and Soul with hints of Georgian national folk music. To me there is an unparalleled uniqueness to that combination as it carries a nostalgic warmth and keeps me connected to my roots and home. When I write and perform, vulnerability and honesty are most important to me.
Being an independent artist is a rollercoaster that comes with many challenges. The constant pressure to promote and market yourself takes away from your creative process. There’s no one there to truly guide you, so you have to figure it all out on your own, and along the way, you make many mistakes. My constant thought is, ‘Okay, I’ve put my life experiences into a song, I’ve done my best to perform it, I’ve collaborated with people to arrange, record, and produce it, I’ve put all my energy and ideas into creating the right visuals and media for the track, but now, how do I make sure people actually hear it?’ There are many frustrating nuances but I try to remember why I started in the first place and what drives me. The moment all of it becomes worth it is when you’re on stage and listeners, whom you never thought you’d reach, connect with you.
I try to be proud of all the projects I’ve created and released so far, recognizing that even though I’d do some things differently now, those steps were necessary to bring me to where I am today. My debut solo concert was probably the biggest highlight of my career so far; the heightened sensations and gratitude never go away. It was a significant experience that also allowed me to delve deeper into the world of live show production.
What do I want the world to know about my brand and story? Hmm, I will say that my work is very earnest, and I put lots of effort and love into it, so go check it out haha.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Daymn, thats some local tea…I’m too new here. I’ll take Getty and pancakes at Breakfast by Salt’s Cure any day!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my friends and family and to my music family, with whom I always have so much fun creating and performing. A double shoutout to my dad’s vintage jazz records that I grew up listening to!
