Meet Natalia Trevino Amaro | Fashion Designer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Trevino Amaro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business in June of 2020 after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in May of 2020. I had been living in NYC but made my way back home to Indiana when COVID hit and was living with my parents again. I still wanted to work within the fashion industry but my location and the state of the world didn’t really allow for it, so I figured the best way for me to approach that would be to start my own business. I always knew I wanted to have my own brand, I just never thought this would be the time or situation in which it would happen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a fashion designer, I like to differentiate myself by creating sustainable, zero waste pieces. The fashion industry is incredibly harmful to the environment, so I’ve taken it upon myself to create pieces in the most sustainable way I can – by utilizing every last scrap. In doing this, it forces me to come up with new ideas and techniques that I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise. It would be so much easier to just create clothes without being so conscious of the waste that comes with it, but I feel so fulfilled in doing good and teaching others about sustainability through fashion.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved to LA a couple of weeks ago and have yet to find my “go-to” spots but as someone who grew up in the Midwest, the first place I’d take a friend is the beach! It’s so wild to me that the beach is so accessible and I can go whenever I want. Aside from that, we’d totally go thrifting, maybe get some coffee at a cute coffee shop, and enjoy the nice weather! I love just sitting in coffee shops and watching people walk by. There’s inspiration everywhere, sometimes you just have to stop and look.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family deserves all the credit and recognition in my story. I’m so blessed to have always had the support of my parents and my brother in everything I’ve wanted to do.
