We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Baldochi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalia, what principle do you value most?
What a good question! I am from a small town in Brazil, where I lived for 23 years. I moved to work as a Lawyer in São Paulo. Moving from Batatais to São Paulo was a huge challenge because I had a strong connection with my family. Then, three years later, I moved to LA to live the most intense experience I’ve had so far: to be an immigrant. Sometimes, living abroad might seem to be an exciting journey, which is, but it also defies us as people. It means dealing with frustration and difficulties that are hard to face, such as visa, language, prejudice, weather, and lack of job opportunities. All the experience of moving from one city to another, then from one country to another, gave me so much knowledge about immigration that I wanted to share. Being an immigrant for over ten years helped me understand that more people are not ready for change, but once we choose to change ourselves, lots of doors open.

The upbringing here, I believe is how much I learned from other cultures and became open-minded.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love talking about my career because it is a collection of various areas that today make sense. When I decided to go to Law School, I was sure I would be a prosecutor, but very soon, I realized it wasn’t going to happen. Not because I wasn’t capable but because it wasn’t what I expected. Then, when I moved to Los Angeles, I wanted to study at UCLA. Instead of doing LLM and spending a lot of money on a career I didn’t feel excited about, I selected my choices to Journalism and Production. Since my husband and I knew more people in the Entertainment Business, I studied Producing and worked at a few studios.
When I pull together all the pieces, I see that producing a podcast today is only possible because I know the law and studied production! During the pandemic, I became a Journalist working with the things I love the most: people and stories.
In times of social media, being genuine is key. So, I value my audience so much that when I am vulnerable to sharing a story, they know it is true. For me, a community is what I look for my brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have visitors, which happens often since friends and family love to come to LA we start at Home State for tacos if they have arrived at lunchtime. I like to take them to a park for a walk with the dog. Los Angeles has so many beautiful outdoor areas that I never know which one to pick. One of my favorite places for a picnic or a hike is the Griffith Observatory Park.
For a night out, we can go to West Hollywood at the vegan restaurant Gracias Madre for food and then pick the most fun bar for the night.
For the next day, we can have breakfast at Republique Bakery one of my favorite places in LA! Then we can spend a few hours at Venice and Santa Monica Beach until we get hungry. My choice of restaurant will be the Cheesecake Factory, I know it is very touristy but I think everyone should go once.
For the afternoon, grab a Boba and spend the time at a park with the dog.
After going home and relaxing a bit, I’d suggest going to Downtown LA for a rooftop drinks experience.
Third and last day, I think it has to be around Silver Lake and Echo Park for the morning and then The Getty Museum and The Grove Farmers Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a Podcaster, it is hard to mention only one person. So, I have to say that everyone who participated as a guest or as a listener is a huge part of it. Also, Com Sotaque Pod exists because Marcia Dal Molin who was a co-host and founder.
