We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Aponté and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natasha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music has been the thread that binds my DNA; it’s really in my blood. My family used to tell me that I learned how to sing before I could talk. When I was a little girl, I was fascinated by the frequency of my voice. I would hum and sing different notes, writing songs and putting them all together. By the time I was eight, I already knew I wanted to be a singer. However, there was one moment that set the trajectory of my life; I didn’t know it then, but it ultimately shaped my future.

I was in fourth grade, and my school was having a talent show. I decided to sign up and sing a song, so every day after school, I would go into my backyard and practice over and over again. Finally, the day came. I got on that stage, grabbed the mic, and sang. I will never forget the feeling and the rush I got from being on that stage. The lights were shining on me, and I saw all the students and parents smiling and supporting me. I could see the awe and excitement in their eyes. I remember telling myself, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. From that point on, music became my world, and I’ve been working towards my dreams ever since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is an extension of my soul, a fusion of R&B, Pop, and Arabic influences that reflect my diverse cultural background and extensive travels. Growing up in New York City, I was exposed to a rich tapestry of sounds and rhythms, which have profoundly shaped my musical identity. Having traveled to 32 countries, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing a myriad of musical traditions, all of which have left an indelible mark on my sound.

What sets me apart is my ability to weave these diverse influences into a cohesive and unique musical experience. My debut album, *Abusers in Love*, is a testament to this, showcasing my earthy, etheric voice and genre-bending compositions. It’s a body of work that invites listeners into my dream world, where they can experience raw emotion and boundless creativity. I often tell my fans, “Welcome to my dream world, where I wear my heart on my sleeve straight to your ears. Take a trip to another dimension where time and place do not exist, and you are free to be exactly who you are. My music is for you.”

Getting to where I am today has been anything but easy. The journey has been filled with challenges, from the competitive nature of the industry to the personal struggles of staying true to my vision. However, my professional acting background and classical training have provided me with a strong foundation. I’ve learned to embrace these challenges as opportunities for growth, using them to refine my craft and deepen my artistic expression.

One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is the importance of authenticity. Staying true to myself and my vision, even when faced with external pressures, has been crucial. It’s this authenticity that resonates with my audience and sets my music apart.

I want the world to know that my music is more than just sound—it’s an invitation to escape, to find peace, and to connect with the deepest parts of oneself. My journey is ongoing, and I’m committed to pushing the boundaries of my art, creating music that not only entertains but also heals and inspires. I feel that I am an artist to watch, and my music is for anyone looking for a soulful escape.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! First I would take them to Topanga canyon trails for an amazing hike and then go to Little Beach House Malibu and enjoy the beach, grab a light lunch. I love going to see live music and LACMA holds these Jazz concerts during the summer, so I’d take her there. After that we’d go to Osteria La Buca, which is my favorite Italian restaurant in LA. The food is divine, once we’re done so dinner, I’d take her out. I’d go to mama shelter, highlight room and maybe finish the night in APT 200. I love doing fun adventures activities too, so I’d either go to K1 racing, which is a cool indoor go kart racetrack, go horseback riding, go to an art exhibition. There’s so much more in a week I’d do, but those are a few things I’d do with my best friend, if she were in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout out my hometown, New York City….Brooklyn and the Bronx, you’ve raised me and gifted me with ability to see the most talented, incredible artists in the world. From the subway concerts and the Dominicans in Dykman playing bachata, fueling my art and creativity, it has shaped me and the artist I am today. I would like to shoutout my sister Shadenia Davis, she has been a huge supporter and inspiration to my journey, thank you for always reminding me to reach for the stars and never allowing me to give up on my dreams.
