Meet Nefertiti Mitchell | Director of Ghettoff’s Intimacy Consultations

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nefertiti Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nefertiti, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Nefertiti Mitchell is a woman of many hats! I am a mother, an HR professional within the retail sector, and one of the few African American women entrepreneurs in the global adult toy market.

I have been in a lifelong student of sensuality as a fundamental aspect of human and divine life. I combined my interest in sensuality to heal her own childhood sexual trauma, and knowledge of the retail industry, to establish my own business dedicated to Black love and sexual health.

As a Chicago native, I chose the “Black Mecca” of Inglewood, CA to headquarter my company. My center of operations is inconspicuously located on one of the busiest intersections of the city and serves as a processing and shipping hub to her global clientele. The executive office suite also features a boutique-style showroom for consultations, VIP guests, and special events.

At 43, Nefertiti was diagnosed with Stage 3 advance Breast Cancer and felt like a deer caught in headlights. This news came with only weeks from her Re-launch on April 17, 2021 (post-Covid-19). As being a cancer survivor, it is now my mission to spread the word that we need to take control of our health.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the First and Only Black Female-Owned exclusive concierge adult Boutique where we offer:
-Private consultation for solo and couple play.
-We have an Appointment Only policy to ensure the privacy and protection of everyone’s intimate needs.
-We offer monthly subscription box to ensure intimacy stay alive.
-We have curbside pickup for your convenience.
-We have Monthly Mixer at our Ghettoff boutique

This is a male dominating field and I had to grow some tuff skin very quickly if I wanted to be successful. I have been challenged on what my mission and vision for this company several times and yet I am still standing. My journey to know the unknown is what gave me the strength to continue on this path. I am so devoted to self care and let people know what they don’t know about intimacy. Intimacy is what we all need but have difficulties understand what it truly is. I have a daughter and my mission is to have her love her body and embrace yourself, just because you deserve it. Her having the knowledge of knowing what she like and dislike will make for a healthy relationship for her. There is nothing worse that not knowing what you like and putting that weigh on your partner to pleasure you and you don’t know how yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I am from Chicago and my friends are coming to visit me in California, I can only show them the California way.

It’s all about the Wine…..we are headed to Wine Country. This way they get to see how wine is made and we are tasting it as well. I am a pretty chill and laid back person so we will do a little shopping at the outlets as we make our way to the beach for relaxation. I may book a couple of massages at a Spa with pampering treatments. Facial for me… Self care is so important and that what we do. Escape from the day to day and live in the moment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout goes to my partner and right hand in my personal life and business. Venus Mason and I met 2 years ago and since then she has been such a great inspiration person, mother, friend and partner. She helps to see what is right in front of me and embrace it whole hearted. My cancer diagnoses hit me like a deer caught in headlights. She embrace the part that I need to push through this and whatever challenges may come during this life.
