We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicolas Ospina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicolas, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
It may seem crazy, but I am inspired by what inspires others. To elaborate, I have never been someone who is motivated by money. I would say I do not like the concept of money. That in itself, has probably held me back in getting further ahead in my career, but on the flip side, I would argue money comes as easy as it goes. What does not necessarily come and go is, family and friends. Those 2 things (especially friends who have become basically family) are irreplaceable in my eyes.

That being said, I thrive most when given the opportunity to just run things. Run a business, run a career, run a project, etc. If someone needs me to pull through for them, I do it. I am a very selfless person. I usually put other’s needs before mine. You see, I am more of an analytical, organized, methodical person. Strangely enough, most of those I surround myself with are creatives, risk takers, men and women with dreams to do big things in this world. Those people inspire me. My goals and dreams are making their goals and dreams come true, or at the very least get them closer to that.

Whether it was my best friend Justin Muzack having a dream to be an emcee to now being one of Los Angele’s best underground media and radio hidden gems or creating a snapback hat brand by the name of OffScript Lids with one of my college best friends Ivan Aguayo. These dreams gave me purpose. They gave me a reason to be excited to start a new day and go out there in the world and try and make something happen.

My biggest venture to date would have to be Syndicate Radio. An online radio show I helped start in 2011 that ran until 2021. 5 college kids just trying to have fun created one of the “Go-To” outlets for aspiring artists in the San Fernando Valley and Greater Los Angeles area. We went from a garage to FM radio. We figured it out and made it happen. It took 10 years, but it is one of the accomplishments I am most proud of. I saw what the founders DJ Mk and DJ Sound Asylum (as he was known back then) wanted to do with their little recorded garage show and made it my dream to.

All these people are now family. They keep me going because time is precious, and time is also limited. So, when I chose to build a new business or join and new company I do so with all the intention to gain new family. The money will come. I need the greater goal or cause to be worth it. Show me that your dream will change lives for the better and that will be more than enough inspiration to continue moving forward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career started out on a local level. Very green to an ever growing and changing Music Industry. No connections, no experience, no direction. Finally, I went and got my Master’s degree in Music Industry Administration from Cal-State Northridge, and that opened the doors to Jamie Adler and his company Adler Music Group. I quickly climbed up from an intern to the Chief Operations Manager and now run all logistics for every for 5-6 tours a year. I have produced radio shows on both online and FM platforms. I have managed a handful of artists both known and unknown. I had to learn as I grew. Take on any new challenge head on and accept that I could and probably would fail the first time around.

If there is anything I believe others would say and remember about me and my professional career, it’s that I was always reliable and down to chance the dream no matter what it took and no matter what the payoff was. I hope that all those I have come across in life will remember that I always cared deeply about my work and putting my best foot forward.
