Meet Nicole Holland | Owner of Cactus Mart

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Holland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Definitely when you’re younger you are told to work hard and grind everyday and that does do wonders to build up a good work ethic and relationships with people. Then as you get older you start (or should) to take the path of least resistance and what works best for your future. Work smarter not harder aspect. Making better choices for your mental health, is not always a traditional way. But at the end of the day…. What’s most important?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Cactus Mart is an old desert cactus nursery that’s been around since the 1970’s …. It has a long history with locals, tourists, artists for being a unique “dig your own cactus” that dates back to the beginning and i always hear about it being originally .19cents as to now a whopping.70cents There was even a band years ago by local musicians one member Teddy Quinn called the dig your own cactus band and played in the 90’s desert sessions album.
I’m just here to carry on its originality that people remember.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely the big Morongo canyon preserve, pioneer town preserve, Joshua Tree National Park! Always great to get out and explore. Our locals enjoy a new restaurant here in town called Spaghetti Western with live music nightly Thursday-Sunday. Homemade pastas and organic ingredients.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
