Meet Nikki Frustere | Founder & CEO of Nixx Events LA

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Frustere and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It’s always been a dream of mine to have my own company since I first started planning events in college. I’ve produced hundreds of events over the course of my 15+ year career and I’m so grateful for all the experiences I’ve had while working for some amazing companies but I knew that if I didn’t just go for it and push myself out of my comfort zone, I might regret it. The pandemic has made everyone I know take a long, hard look at their lives, careers, relationships etc and I just knew it was time for me to bet on myself and go for it like my late great Pops always taught me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was so lucky to have the opportunity to grow up overseas in Lusaka, Zambia & Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which are some of the most beautiful cultures on earth. Growing up in such unique environments and learning about different styles of celebrating, entertaining, cuisine, music and art have inspired me throughout my life and career. It’s always been my passion to create unique celebrations, events, brand awareness & activations through creative experiential design and I feel so lucky to do it for a living. Everyone has different styles & preferences, but learning to listen and absorb other people’s cultures, opinions and creative strategies has made it easy for me to work with my clients to not only create something beautiful, but something they feel like they had an inspirational role in as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles as a whole has so many amazing neighborhoods, restuarants, bars, music venues & activities that it’s insanely hard to choose my favorite spots in the city… but a romp through little Tokyo, Thai town, Sunset Strip, Downtown Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan Beach are always a good time and filled with adventure!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to all my event industry colleagues, especially the women, who have inspired, mentored & challenged me, to my closest friends, most from my formative days at Cal State Long Beach & here in LA, and last but certainly most importantly, to my amazing Mom Dee Frustere, my late great father Michael Frustere, my big sis Michelle Frustere & niece Madison who have always been there for me and have been so supportive of me through thick and thin! I wouldn’t be here without their support & unconditional love.
