We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikkilette Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikkilette, what role has risk played in your life or career?
According to the dictionary “risk” is a situation involving exposure to danger. By definition I live my daily life with risk. Even though I have just gotten into Stunts five years ago I have always been a risk taker. Without risk, life would be very Mandane. Granted my life involves much greater risk than the average person, but I would like to think my risk are very calculated.
The spirit of courage was stalled in me from my mother, from a young age. This spirit helped push me two sell my car, house, leave my job at 14 years and move to Los Angeles to pursue a career I knew very little about. It was because of this courage and taking the risk that I was able to achieve a career and Stunts in Hollywood and living the life of my dreams..
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a professional stuntperformer I am not on the expected to be an actress in front of the camera, but also perform dangerous physical task and sometimes while mimicking the movement and characteristics of my actress. We have to know everything from the angle of where the camera is to the speed and lens used on that shot. Our job as a stunt performer is so multifaceted.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has so many amazing sites that people from all over the world come to see. I would love to take my friends onto a filming set to give them a true behind-the-scenes experience that most people will never get to see. Taking them onto the lot one of the famous studios, showing them around to all the different stages. But most importantly allow him to watch as an intricate fight scene is filmed. Getting to see how many hours it takes to film from from multiple angles to achieve a meager three seconds of footage in a film. And then I would love to finish the day out by introducing them to other big-name celebrities that were filming on the same lot.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother, Kris Wright set an example of risk by starting her own business when I was 5 & has always encourage me and my siblings to chase after our dreams. She runs a gymnastics gym in the suburbs of Chicago Building self confidence in youth through physical activity and Breaking through mental barriers.
