We had the good fortune of connecting with Nistha Dube and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nistha, how do you think about risk?
I’ve noticed that when it comes to the age-old “secrets” to success, they are often times portrayed solely as consistency, hard work, book smarts, etc. While each of those elements play a crucial role in one’s success, I think operating out of courage is a whole different ballpark. I see it as someone saying “Hey Universe, I’m so excited about this one thing that I’m willing to put my pride and circumstances on the line right now just to give it a shot.”

I’ve noticed that in my personal life, it was truly those out-of-comfort-zone moments that led me to my biggest opportunities. Sure, consistency was huge in cultivating discipline and showing up for myself and my audience, but the risk-taking decisions were the ones I would notice DIRECT and wildly surprising results from.

An example of this in my story is when I started a series called “Manifestation Mondays,” in which I began sharing both my personal beliefs and my face publicly on social media for the first time in my life. I remember my palms being sweaty before my first ever live, and feeling nauseous before starting! I almost considered not moving forward with it. The direct result of this was gaining both a mentor and close friend, Ishita Ganotra, who was a viewer of the first session. I had never met her before, and she became one of my closest friends and guides in 2020 from that day onwards.

What followed the years onwards were a domino effect of “vision board goals” for me: Getting my book next to Rupi Kaur’s on the shelves of Barnes & Noble, giving my first TEDx on my journey, welcoming Olympic athletes and Forbes-featured guests on my podcast, sharing my journey as a GenZ entrepreneur in Business Insider, and many more! I was blessed with these experiences, and felt it was truly the universe meeting me halfway to co-create these goals as a result of the courage I took to even begin.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
After graduating college, I promised myself I’d become the person I wish I had during the years of confusion, loneliness, and comparison. I wish I had someone who told me it was safe to lean into who I am- and that I in fact could act as an inspiration to others by doing so. I kept hiding my passion for spiritual topics and avoiding exploring the depth of just how far these conversations could go. Translating this into a personal brand with the intention of becoming a professional in my industry has been a whirlwind! I have now learned that opportunities come and go, and the most challenging part is to remain neutral and whole within oneself. While I mentioned the power of risk-taking in relation to results earlier, I believe the most important elements to have in order to SUSTAIN one’s business are truly the clarity, and consistency of one’s message and offers, and structured systems to execute them.

I want people to know that it can often times be more complex than what you may see on someone’s social media. Be it the personal journey to get to where they are today, the amount of roadblocks or redirections they faced along the way, the criticism or judgement that could have surfaced, the list can go on. There is a story behind every finished product, and acknowledging that as both the producer and the consumer of content is both eye-opening and humbling.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always start my day with an iced coffee from my neighborhood in downtown. Nimbus Coffee is a hot spot for the environment and vibes- I highly recommend it for all the Harry Potter fans. I enjoy heading to the beach on my weekends, (the drive towards Topanga and Malibu is stunning at any time of day). Upon heading up the road to Topanga, Cafe 27 is an absolute hidden GEM! I felt like I had escaped the city and landed straight in Bali my first time there.

Towards the evening, I’d LOVE getting takeout from my favorite cuisine, Thai (Jitalda Thai is a MUST!) and taking it to Griffith Observatory to watch the sunset. When it comes to nightlight, the rooftop bars in LA are endless! My personal favorite that I take everyone to is ACE Hotel, as it converts into a dance floor on weekends, and has the best food, drinks, AND view of the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents, who have always supported my vision and trusted me enough to fulfill it, even when it was so new to then. My mentor Ishita Ganotra and my business coach Devesh Dwivedi, for creating outlines and strategies behind my creative mayhem.
My editor and friend, Adil Naghmi, who has been part of the evolution of my content day in and day out.
My speaking agent and friend, Joe Johnston, who has represented me to aligned audiences through his agency, MII Professional Speaking.
