We had the good fortune of connecting with Noa Hadad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noa, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I wrote a song in September of 2023 called “the loser that i am.” I loved it, but I honestly didn’t think I’d ever record it. It was rock, sarcastic, brutally honest.. just way outside my comfort zone.

When it came time to record new music, I actually had a different song in mind.
But a couple of days before the session, I started thinking about this song again and went back and forth on it a lot. Finally I just decided to take the risk and record it. At the time it felt risky, but now it’s one of my favorite songs that I’ve released.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been writing my entire life. Whether it’s stories, poems or songs. It’s almost like an itch you have to scratch, I started writing for myself, it helped me understand situations better and see things through other perspectives. It took a long time before I started thinking “maybe this is something actually worth sharing” and suddenly I had to imagine myself as the reader and perfectionism definitely became a challenge. And now I have to keep reminding myself why I started doing this in the first place, what purpose it served and how to not lose sight of that.

I realized that at the end of the day, not everyone is going to relate or understand. The point is to use my voice for those who do, those who want to feel less alone in it and to share my personal thoughts and feelings in the process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many places I love in this city. If I had to plan a trip, it would involve a lot of walking in Santa Monica boardwalk and Marina Del Rey. I just love being by the water and I’m one of the few people who believes you can do just fine here without a car, the next day I’d go to Schwartz Bakery to grab some food and then to The Grove and Beverly center. Nothing is more fun than a day of eating and shopping.

But if I’d be showing someone the city for the first time, I’d take them to the Walk of Fame although I don’t really ever go there by myself. It’s just one of those things that are a must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think the book “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert deserves a lot of credit. It’s been incredibly helpful for me in times of doubt and uncertainty. It helps me understand my artistic self better. What used to feel Iike a burden sometimes now feels like a gift. As the only artist in my family, my path didn’t always feel like a choice so much as something I was meant to follow, and this book helped me embrace that.
