We had the good fortune of connecting with Noé de la Garza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noé, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I don’t think its habits, but the resilience and the willingness to fail. The more I fail, the more I learn about myself and the craft, which I believe feed each other. How can I bring life into my work when im not willing to take risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I had to picked myself up. I wasn’t waiting to be saved, I knew the only way was to put the work in myself. I have to learn that humility is key. Anytime that I may deviate from the “journey” that I have to bring myself back. I had to teach myself that the art is for ourselves, not to please others, but because it feels right for myself. I want the world to know that I am no different than the rest. Im just a kid from a small town in Mexico that has a dream and is willing to play.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them El Matador Beach in Malibu. It feels like being in Narnia, the sand, the view, the water. It doesn’t feel like Los Angeles. To eat, I’d take them to Gloria’s, the chilaquiles there are the best. I’d one hundred percent take them to Disneyland. Adventure Park first then the rest of the day at Magic Kingdom of course, no other way. To end the trip, I’d take them to see a movie at the Universal lot once everything is closed and empty. It’s just us and something different. Only after 8p.m. so we don’t have to pay the parking fee.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today or who I am today without the support of my family and my son. They have been my safe haven but have been my source of will power to keep going when diversity knocks at my door. My acting teacher, John Markland. He fucked me up in the best possible way. His way way of teaching encouraged me to trust myself. To trust my creative voice.
