Meet Notkyle: Rising RnB Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Notkyle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Notkyle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is honesty. Although I’m still in my early stages with music, I do believe that any success that I’ve experienced thus far is driven by the rawness and truth behind my songs. Music is a subjective experience, so sometimes it can take time to reach the audience your music is made for, but patience is key. In my eyes, it is far more satisfying to know that individuals love the music I love making, rather than me only trying to make music I think that people would love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Notkyle is an independent RnB artist whose music is primarily about life experiences as an individual in their 20’s. I touch base a lot on personal love and heartbreak experiences in my songs. Like I mentioned before, I believe that honesty is the root of my success, and that’s also what I think sets me apart from others. Expressing one’s feelings can be quite difficult, let alone turning those feelings into songs and releasing them for the world to hear. Sometimes I’ll be hesitant to release music because I find it being too personal to share, but then remember that there’s a chance it’ll reach someone who can relate and may need it more than I do. Which is also why I love art and music so much, sometimes it speaks volumes to people in ways that just can’t be experienced through a normal conversation. Some things that I’m looking forward to while being on this journey are learning more about myself and meeting new people on the way. Although I’m just getting started, it has already been so cool meeting and working with likeminded individuals who share the same dream AS you and FOR you. I hope that no matter if/where music takes me, that my music is helping people heal just as much as making it has/does for me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Say that we weren’t experiencing this pandemic right now, I’d make sure that we take a trip to Disneyland for sure since it’s near by, plus who doesn’t like Disneyland? For food we could get, but aren’t limited to In-N-Out, Korean BBQ, tacos, hot chicken etc. the options are endless! For dessert we could grab ice cream, boba or blueberry donuts from M&M. I love breweries, so grabbing drinks at Golden Road, Ballast Point and/or Rodeo 39 to name a few would be a must. Oh and I can’t forget about bottomless mimosas for brunch! The beach is close by, so we would definitely have to take a drive down PCH for the vibes. Probably hang out in Long Beach for a bit and show them where I spent most of my college days. LA isn’t too far either, so I’d take them over to the shops on Fairfax, and just chill until nightlife activities start.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely couldn’t be doing what I do without my family and friends; their love and support is what gives me the courage to share my art with the world. Not to mention that a lot of the work I put out is in collaboration with them! To mention a few: my graphics designed by my cousin Sam Danan, visuals by Justine Rosario and Martin Mamangun, music production by Aaron Brockovich, Coastal and Roy Rollin etc. Without these talented individuals in my life, I would not be able to release the quality content that I’ve been lucky enough to put out.
