We had the good fortune of connecting with Onyeka Obioha-lolagne, Md and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Onyeka, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to set the tone of my practice. Unfortunately the American healthcare system is broken, and while I can’t change the system, I can change the way I deliver patient care through it. I wanted to create a patient centric approach that aligns with my priorities and bespoke care model. I felt that it was time for me to cultivate how I envisioned patient interactions, treatment plans, and follow-ups to be without restrictions.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a private dermatology practice that deviates from the standard practice model. My model is focused on delivering custom, personalized care with emphasis on the physician-patient long term relationship. Limiting traditional insurance, I offer a hybrid direct pay model which allows for affordable access to dermatologic care without insurance restrictions with upfront, transparent pricing on services.
My office offers a safe haven for all cultures and genders to seek culturally competent care in a non-judgemental environment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Self Realization Fellowship for site viewing of the meditation center.
Lunch on the water in Malibu.
Drinks at a rooftop hotel bar in the middle of the city -likely the Waldorf for views.
Sunday dinner with my family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shot out goes to my mom, fellow physician, mentor, role model and superhero. Without her I would not be who or where I am.
