We had the good fortune of connecting with Page Nazarian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Page Nazarian, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
How similar the hardwood flooring industry is to the diamond industry in terms of grading. There are so many differing factors that make one hardwood floor different than the other: (1) grade of wood (how many knots) (2) type of wood (hardness does not always equate cost, how rare and how clean the lumber traditionally comes is a bigger factor) (4) top layer of wood (how many sandings) (5) width of planks (6) length of planks (7) type of cut (plain sawn, euro cut, rift cut, quartersawn cut) (8) type of stain (9) type of finish. So informing our clients all these factors is why Fame Hardwood has been successful in matching the best floors for their needs.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fame Hardwood has become the premier destination for hardwood floors for the A+D community and homeowners alike. What sets us apart is our versatility. We don’t corner ourselves into one sector of the flooring market and are open to new ideas, vendors, and channels of distribution. There definitely is a lot to learn about how hardwood floors are manufactured, stained, and installed and each step has its own intrinsic importance or the whole project can implode. The best way to avoid such challenges is to continually converse with member of your community and learn collectively. Fame Hardwood will be opening up a new showroom in New York at 200 Lexington Ave in early 2021.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A drive up PCH to Malibu during sunset is always a treat. Dinner at Nobu or Giorgio Baldi. Cap it off with drinks and dancing at The Shore Club.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents for giving me the opportunity to learn on the job in their floor covering store in high school and college. It helped give me the foundation necessary to start my own hardwood flooring brand and company.
