We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamara Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pamara, what do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my choice to “Live Passionately” along with my upbringing to my success.  My parents raised my siblings and I on a foundation rooted in faith, high self-confidence and education.  Neither of my parents earned a degree after completing highschool, yet all three of their children have multiple higher education degrees and work in our careers on a professional level.

My faith is unyielding in all aspects of my life.  I literally believe that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.  This is one of the reasons I decided to create a brand: Passionately Living. I believe that when individuals live passionately, success is inevitable. Passionately Living, LLC is a trademarked brand created to inspire the world to live passionately everyday. Our motto is: Live Passionately, the rest is easy… One entity of Passionately Living, LLC is :Passionate Conversations. These conversations provide insight on specific careers, lifestyles, and/or areas in life where success has been achieved by a passionate individual. The goal of every conversation is simply INSPIRATION.  When passionate people share their success stories, the cycle of success continues throughout generations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am a passionate educator, hence my Instagram name since 2014: Passionate_educator. During my undergraduate studies, I majored in Education and I have not looked since. This year marks 17 phenomenal years in the Pre K-12 field. I have taught grades: pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th. This is my 8th year in the capacity of educational leadership. I am most proud of sticking with my passion for education, despite the fact that I was told that I was making a bad decision during my junior year of college.  An adult literally told me that there was no money in education and encouraged me to change my major.  I remember answering the question: Why did I choose education as a career? My response was “because of the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others daily”. Today, almost 20 years later, I feel the exact same way.  I consider myself to be a life-long learner. I returned to school to earn a Masters and Education Specialist degree by 2014. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate Degree, majoring in Leadership and Innovation.

I followed my heart at the early age of 17. I knew I loved children and education. I decided to live passionately, the rest has been easy. My brand, Passionately Living, LLC is committed to helping others find their passion(s) in life.  We offer: motivational speaking, professional development sessions and inspiration merch.  Visit our website for more information.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Detroit is such an amazing city. Here are some of the places we would have to visit. Lodging: MGM Casino Hotel. I do not gamble but the location is perfect, downtown Detroit. We can also enjoy the spa, get facials and massages during our stay.

Attractions: Beacon Park, Campus Martius Park both located Downtown Detroit. There is an outdoor roller rink that is a beautiful attraction at Monroe Street Midway.

Food: Lumen Detroit is my “new” favorite restaurant in the city serving upscale, modern American cuisine & drinks. Another must go-to is Detroit 75 Kitchen. It is actually a food truck offering artisanal sandwiches, wings & hand-cut fries. The garlic cilantro fries are my absolute favorite item on the menu. The fresh strawberry lemonade will definitely complete the meal. We would go to Joe Muer Seafood for dinner. The view of the Detroit River would be an added experience.

Night Life: Floods Bar and Grill located in the Greektown area of Downtown Detroit. Duo Restaurant and Lounge is another must go to when visiting. Duo is located in Southfield, MI, the crowd is mature and the food is delectable. The live music is an added bonus for both Duo and Floods venues.

Since all women love shopping, we would have to visit Woodward Ave to enjoy some stores located in the heart of downtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my life I have been strongly supported by my parents. They will celebrate 40 years of marriage this coming November.  I am the middle child of three and you know what they say about “middle children”… Well, I appreciate my parents for allowing me to be me. My father always told me growing up, “Pamara, you have a strong personality”. I was not always sure what that meant as a young child, but I soon realized that I was a natural leader. Leadership is more than a title. Exceptional leaders positively impact others every chance they get. I believe this is exactly what I have done over the past 17 years in the field of K-12 education in the city of Detroit, MI. My mother was a stay-at-home mom until we entered school. She nurtured her three children and ensured we were loved unconditionally. Her dedication and commitment to her family influenced my interactions with my students and families throughout my career. I have served as teacher, instructional coach, dean of instruction, assistant principal, and now high school principal. I can honestly say, the hundreds of students I’ve served are and will always be “my babies”. My mother’s love for her babies made this possible. Thank you dad for calling my leadership out when I was a child and thank you mom for loving me in a way that caused me to love on others!
