We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Mora Abby Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela Mora, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We felt that a lot of the comedy scene in LA was unnecessarily intimidating and sometimes unwelcoming, especially to women and marginalized voices. We wanted to answer the need for a comedy variety show that kept it wacky and more importantly created a welcoming environment for everyone. We celebrate performers of all experiences levels and treat them like the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time) performers they are.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Goat Show was birthed in Pamela Mora’s backyard. Abby knew that Pamela’s desire to change the industry for the better would lend well to the most important aspect of Goat Show: HAVING FUN (OR ELSE)! From producing backyard musicals to her gigs as a production assistant on countless sets, a set decorator at Buzzfeed, and now a Showrunner’s assistant — Abby has learned a lot about all sides of the industry most of all — how important it is to have a good partner. Pamela Mora’s college experience producing student TV comedy shows coupled with her six years of industry experience including being a producer’s assistant and executive assistant at Warner Media make them an unstoppable team. As CBS Pages together they faced many challenges but always knew how to turn a day around to have a good time and made sure to share that with others. They bring this energy to the Goat Show & you can check it out for yourself at their next show: Morvel, a Goat Show FUNdraiser where they’ll present 6 movies in one hour on Friday, April 15th at 8 PM at the Fountain Theatre at 5060 Fountain Avenue ALSO AVAILABLE online.
