We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Kara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia, how does your business help the community?

One of the biggest parts of my business right now is my new book that I wrote, Dream on Now Deliver, which is about the entertainment industry. When I got started in entertainment 35 years ago, I had absolutely no resources, mentorship, instruction, or anything. I figured my path out on my own through trial and error, and I have been able to build a successful career. It was hard work, networking, learning on the job, and my own strength of character that I was able to lean on in order to figure out what I needed to in order to keep moving forward. My book centers around the many lessons that I have learned along my path in entertainment, and the goal is to help the “next me”, especially young women, who want to begin careers in entertainment. There are so many different avenues to take, but mainly there are so many mistakes that can be avoided and so many successes that can be had, simply by having a guide or some experienced advice.

I wrote my book knowing that I could make a difference in the lives and careers of young people that wanted to dream big, the same way that I did when I was starting my career. In addition to all the lessons in the book, I have added a consultation component to the project that allows for more personal conversations and instruction for readers that really want to commit to their careers and accelerate their process. It has been exciting to revisit many of the experiences that I had at all the stages of my life, and to make them relatable and beneficial to others is more rewarding than I expected. With so many of the horrible stories you hear and read with regards to the entertainment industry, if I can help just one person avoid those pitfalls and find success versus go down a bad path, I think that makes a tremendous difference. I am very proud of my career and all that I have been able to accomplish and passing along that feeling of accomplishment to more people is something that I have wanted to do for a long time.

Stay tuned for news about my book release by early 2023 along with personal consultations at www.PatriciaKara.com.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I chose “other” because I feel that I am an entertainer and that I encompass many different facets of a very broad business. I have managed my own career, the careers of others, acted, written, produced, modeled, hosted, and now written my first book. I never let anyone or anything fence me into one direction and I have always followed my instincts with respects to what was right for me and my career. This mindset has taken me all over the world and kept me very busy professionally for a long time. The entertainment industry is constantly evolving, and if you are not ready to evolve with it, you will get left behind. I have always been open to finding experiences that make sense, and while I will not “just do anything”, I will at least think about it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

The city of Los Angeles is TOO much to fill a month, let alone a week, so let me just throw out a few of my favorite spots and if you come and visit the area, you can use these as waypoints and then see where the ocean winds take you! On the restaurant side of things definitely check out Upper West in Santa Monica; Boa Steakhouse and Sushi Roku in Santa Monica are a must for happy hour or an intimate dinner; Fusion Sushi in Manhattan Beach along with The Strand House; Wally’s and Louka in Beverly Hills are great places to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying the atmosphere; and check out Cecconi’s in West Hollywood for brunch, the bar, or a beautiful dinner.

If you want to get out and about town, there are way too many areas to name, but driving around the Beverly Hills, checking out the many studios in town, the beaches up and down the coast are amazing along with the views, and venues like the Hollywood Bowl, theaters and concert halls, dance and social clubs, hiking and surfing, whatever you find fun, you will be able to find it in Los Angeles!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I noted earlier, I have thought for a long time that I wanted to write a book in order to pass along the many lessons that I have learned over the course of my career. Like many things in my life, I had to learn and figure out how to do this on my own. In the process of educating myself on writing a book, I read “Fit Mind Fit Body” and “How To Write a Book in 30 Days” both written by Don Staley. Don has written a number of different books, but these two really helped organize what I had been doing and thinking already, and they helped get me to where I was finally able to accomplish what I wanted and put my newest project together!
