We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Mardy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, what is the most important factor behind your success?

One of my recent favorite quotes is by Dr. Wayne Dyer, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” This powerful quote shifted how I framed things and revealed to me the power of our thoughts.

Negative narratives and stereotypes can hinder our progress.
We have the power to reframe our perception, shifting from a mindset of limitation to one of limitless possibilities. One example is the “starving artist” stereotype. That is a negative trope that holds many back; we can redefine our own narrative, embracing the belief that success and abundance are within our reach.

When we intentionally surround ourselves with positive influences, from the music we listen to, the books we read, to the people we engage with, we create a fertile ground for evolution to flourish.
Success is subjective and measured differently by everyone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I am a photographer based in Los Angeles. I am mostly called to take portrait photography or shoot musicians/artists performing.

This past June, I got hired to shoot in South Africa; traveling while doing what I love made the trip even more special. So perhaps more traveling in the future

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I enjoy the outdoors, and some of my favorite spots to visit are Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, the mountains in Malibu, Playa del Rey, and the Santa Monica Pier.

When it comes to museums, The Broad and LACMA are my favorites in LA.

Disney Concert Hall is not only aesthetically pleasing but also home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by Gustavo Dudamel.

LA is also known for its exquisite restaurants and coffee shops. Some of my favorites include Hilltop Coffee in Inglewood, Parks BBQ in Koreatown, and Stuff I Eat in Inglewood.
