We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Pedulla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, what do you attribute your success to?
I paint only what I love to paint, and I think that resonates with viewers and collectors of my work. The passion that comes out on my canvasses can be contagious.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My contemporary paintings are decidedly dreamy. They are representational, yet built on memory and imagination. There’s a simplicity that draws you in and a depth that finds you frequently discovering something new.

What began as a sudden urge to paint at a relatively mature age quickly blossomed into a surprising career. As soon as I made the decision to paint, doors around me started to open. With no solicitation on my part, I attracted galleries, press, and clients quite quickly. So I knew I was on the right path.

I hear the same things over and over again from people regarding my work. They feel calm, they are at peace or “at home” when they view my paintings. Although the subject of most of my paintings may be imaginary or geographically separated from a viewer’s daily experience, there is something familiar about the work that feels personal to all viewers. I love how this happened unintentionally. My work has definitely taken on an emotional life of its own, and that has become an important part of my brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am based in Boston and my favorite part of the city is the SoWa Art & Design District. That is where my main exhibition studio is located, right in 450 Harrison Ave. There are so many wonderful artists, art galleries, and design firms in this area. All of them welcome visitors. And there’s a great selection of Asian, Middle Eastern, American, Italian, and French restaurants.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Gratitude is the driving force of my life. I am so grateful for my clients, my artist friends, my spouse, the galleries that represent me nationwide, and the expert web specialists, framers, and shippers who have made my continuing success possible.
