We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Goins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paula, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to own my own business. One thing my father used to tell me was as long as you love what you do.you’ll never work another day in your life. I learned that philosophy and always knew that I wanted to establish something for others to feel the same way when they were working with me at my company. So once I graduated from college, I knew that it was inevitable that I was gonna work for someone. Then, I learned later on, it wasn’t about working for someone. It was about working with someone. But now it’s about me having people feel the same way who work with me. I just happen to be what someone would call a boss.. But I don’t like that word. So I just rather say I happen to be the person who makes the executive decision.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is simple but powerful: I care deeply about people, and I understand the value of connection. I believe nothing meaningful happens in isolation. Relationships are the currency, and I’ve built my work around being a connector—bringing the right people together to create real impact.
I’m incredibly proud of the ventures I’m part of, especially my role as Chief Operating Officer of PixiKwik. PixiKwik is redefining convenience for beauty professionals by delivering products instantly, allowing artists to stay with their clients, protect their time, and increase their income. It’s bold, it’s needed, and it puts power back into the hands of the professionals who keep the industry moving. Being able to market and scale a service that truly serves the community excites me.
I’m equally passionate about Love Life Nights, a platform built on intentional connection. I live by the belief that if you don’t have a seat at the table, you’re on the menu—so I create spaces where people are seen, heard, and connected. These experiences aren’t just events; they’re opportunities to build influence, community, and momentum.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but the challenges shaped my leadership, sharpened my vision, and strengthened my purpose. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about what you build—it’s about who you build with. My brand and my story are rooted in impact, connection, and creating access. I’m here to build, elevate, and make sure people don’t just participate—they belong.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1 – Welcome to LA (Food + Ocean + Music)
We’d start the trip with a proper Creole-style breakfast at The Flavor Table—shrimp, eggs, grits, and biscuits. No shortcuts.
After that, we’d take a drive down Pacific Coast Highway to soak in the water views, because nothing says LA like that first ocean moment.
That evening, we’d check out live music at Sam’s First—great energy, great crowd, always a good time.
Day 2 – Beach Day + Classic LA Nights
We’d start the morning with a long walk on one of our beaches—Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, or wherever the vibe feels right that day.
Lunch would be simple, but dessert is non-negotiable: ice cream at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream.
Monday night is for live music at Harvelle’s—real musicians, real soul, no gimmicks.
Day 3 – Cocktails, Donuts & R&B
Tuesday would start with lunch and daytime cocktails at Calo Kitchen + Tequila.
Right next door, we’d grab a classic LA must: Randy’s Donuts—because you have to.
That night, we’d head to the Valley for R&B night at The Blue Room, hosted by Herman Jackson. Pure vibes, great crowd, nothing forced.

Day 4 – Low-Key Before Turning Up
Wednesday would be chill—good conversation, coffee, maybe a casual neighborhood hang—because Thursday is coming, and Thursday needs energy.
Day 5 – Future Meets Culture
Thursday night, we’d check out COSM—one of only two in the country (the other is in Dallas). It’s immersive, futuristic, and something you don’t forget.
If they happened to be visiting on the first Friday of the month, we’d hit Abbott Kinney Boulevard during the food truck takeover (11 a.m. to midnight). We’d go earlier for lunch because later that evening…
Dinner and live music at Verse LA—great food, intimate performances, and strong creative energy.
Day 6 – Final Night, Done Right
Saturday is the send-off. We’d dress up and make it count with dinner and a show at The Blue Note. Whatever’s on the calendar, it’s always a moment—and the perfect way to close the week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d first like to give all thanks to God, because I truly believe everything I am and everything I’m becoming starts there. I’m also incredibly grateful for my family, who have been my foundation and constant support. My mom is one of my biggest cheerleaders—always encouraging me and believing in me every chance she gets. My dad has always reminded me to pursue what I’m passionate about and love what I do, a lesson that continues to guide my life.
I’ve also been blessed with amazing mentors, friends, and extended family—my siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends—who have supported me, encouraged me, and loved me throughout my journey. The quality of the relationships in my life has shaped me in powerful ways, and I truly wouldn’t be where I am without them. I’m endlessly grateful for everyone who has poured into me along the way.
