Meet Paula Morizono | Fitness Consultant/Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Morizono and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paula, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When my son was 4 he was diagnosed with aphasia- a speech and language disorder. For many years helping him was my first priority, work was second. In my heart I knew the best outcome would come from taking full responsibility as his mother by making him my first priority. When he became successful in school, and started to excel verbally and well as socially I started to shift more of my energies into work. I now see the fruition of my priorities in this well adjusted, wonderful young man I have for a son.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
During my 20 year career in fitness and rehab, I developed a program to create a functionally fit body for life—no matter what age. This year I finally fulfilled my dream of making the basics of this program available to everyone through my book entitled “Everyday Fitness: Strength Through Daily Life Activities.” The book offers exercises and movements which turn daily activities into a source of strength, building a resilient body, less prone to injury.
The book has already received many great reviews. There is a notable review on amazon from a man who says the book helped his back and neck more than any youtube videos! I am so excited because the goal of writing this book was to reach more people around the globe—and it is happening through this book.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend came into town I would take to her to see the fabulous Getty museum and National Japanese-American museums. Then for shopping I would take to her to my favorite outdoor malls, the Century City mall and the the Grove. For some delicious food I would take her to get Korean food in Gardena and the Third street Promenade for international cuisine, shopping, entertainment and the lovely view of Santa Monica beach. And for a taste of salsa dancing I would take her to Warehouse on Friday night!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this article to my friend John Ford who supported me unerringly in the often difficult process of writing my book. He knew that having a book would enable me to fulfill my dream of helping so many more people around the world. And it already has. I am extremely grateful.
I also dedicate this book to all of you! As the dedication in my book reads,
“May this book be a source of inspiration and hope for you courageous people doing your best to live better lives everyday”.
